Saturday Night Live kicked off its first episode after the presidential election with a powerful tribute to both losing candidate Hillary Clinton and legendary musician Leonard Cohen.
The episode, which was hosted by Dave Chappelle, opened with cast member Kate McKinnon performing a cover of Cohens classic track Hallelujah while dressed as Clinton.
I did my best, it wasnt much. I couldnt feel, so I tried to touch. Ive told the truth, I didnt come to fool you, McKinnon sang, as she sat behind a piano on the Studio 8H main stage. And even though it all went wrong. Ill stand before the Lord of Song. With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah.

'member when SNL made fun of Mondale defeat in cold opening after landslide election 1984
LOL
HRC losing was the best fun I’ve had in 2016. Maybe ever.
[Ive told the truth]
Well, emails, deleted emails, bathroom server, Benghazi, The Clinton Foundation, the 2012 election, .... but hey, who’s counting?
Lorne Michaels asking Giuliani, "Can we be funny?" and Giuliani replying, "Why start now?"
Holy Mother! They just cannot lay it off this idiot Hillary. She lost! Time to move on MoveOn idiots!
they are in mourning. If HRC had won , I would be really down.
All (Vanessa Bayer, Aidy Bryant, Beck Bennett, Cecily Strong) but two friends (Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock) are surprised by Donald Trump’s victory while watching the election results roll in.

we would feel worse, we just had 8 years of obama prior.
Better Leonard Cohen song choice:
“Everybody Knows”
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you’ve been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you’ve been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
And everybody knows that it’s now or never
Everybody knows that it’s me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you’ve done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe’s still pickin’ cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows
And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it’s moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there’s gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows
And everybody knows that you’re in trouble
Everybody knows what you’ve been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
To the beach of Malibu
Everybody knows it’s coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows

I like Concrete Blonde’s version better.

yes, it’s ever. I can confirm.
mygosh, SNL got it just right. I like, a lot, they portrayed the hillaristas as clueless about others. The tone of that opening and the week before (hillary and Donald coming together, with equal-opportunity humor) gives me hope. That hope is there are liberals in positions to affect the mindset of others that care more about the US than about not getting their way.
Clintonlosia Clintonlosia Clintonlosia Clinton Loos-sia.

That was better than I expected!
Pathetic that they think this election loss merits them abandoning the normal comedy format.

Still clinging to the Big Lie.
Thanks for posting that. I was going to watch last night with a big hot mug full of leftist tears, but then I thought it’d be easier just to look for stuff on the internet today.
The “Black Jeopardy” skit a couple of weeks ago dared to acknowledge that mistrust of big government and a declining personal economic situation are not unique to one race or the other. I felt that they “got it” here too.
