I’m wondering why she was flying if she was close to term.

Naturally, I assumed that this was an inbound flight to Florida from “somewhere south of there”, hoping to make touchdown in Florida before giving birth.

Only an hour delay. What is the baby’s place of birth?

We flew back from Germany when my wife was 8 moths pregnant.
He doc told her to have a glass of wine on the plane to relax her uterus.

Ha. I wonder what kind of fee the airline tacks on for that.

I’m trying to figure out how this happened. They couldn’t have been more than two hours into the flight when she had the baby, right? She must have been in active labor when she boarded. Why would anyone do that? And how did the gate agents or flight attendants not notice earlier?

I don’t know what happened here, but occasionally women give birth early, and quickly. Maybe she thought she had plenty of time.

As several posters have implied, one reason would be to gain citizenship.

It was a SWA flight from Philadelphia to Orlando, Florida.

Sure, as if getting the baby drunk is a good idea.

Hey, I’m sure her OB would have charged her a lot more and she’ll probably get a flight coupon to complete her travel at some future time.

The extra carry on fees were less than the hospital bill.
