Exactly what I worried about. Debbie was fantastic, a solid star. Of course my most memorable performance for her was “Singin’ in the Rain”, masterpiece that it is.

What a happy, spunky character she possessed. From her little-sister legend in “Two Weeks with Love” (really a very funny movie) to her legendary “Tammy and the Bachelor”, she had such life about her.

My dad was never the same after my brother died of cancer. My mom was resilient. Just appreciates the good things in life like her great grand babies.

Is it going to come in threes?

Don't say that. We already lost Emerson and Lake. (Everyone in the room turns their head and stares at Carl Palmer. An awkward silence follows.)

OMG ... so sorry ... I got my celebrities mixed up. It’s Zsa Zsa Gabor’s son who was in the motorcycle accident and in a coma, never learned of her death.

Not covered much in the news is that Carrie Fisher’s son was in a motorcycle accident the day she had her heart attack, was in a coma and never heard about her illness/death before he himself died. A LOT for one family in one short week.

Carrie Fisher only had one child, a daughter. Perhaps you are thinking about Zsa Zsa Gabor’s son?

Does anyone notice the sarcasm tag?

I think fun is being poked at those who come on these threads with that kind of curmudgeonly attitude.

Eddie was a total cad....but Debbie’s second husband, Harry Karl, stole her blind. He lived off his reputation as a millionaire businessman....but he had Debbie sign over total control of her finances to him.

In those days, actresses routinely did this. Doris Day ‘s husband stole every penny she ever made in cahoots w/ a crooked lawyer. She was broke when he died.

In her memoir, Debbie says she first found out when she went to pick up her paycheck from the L/V cashier. She was told Karl had already picked it up.......and, when confronted, she found out he gambled it away.

When my daughter died, I didn’t think I would survive the grief. I was sick with one ailment after another for six months, none of them serious, Thank God. I cannot describe the depth of grief and mental pain a parent feels after the death of their child. It leaves a hole in your soul. Seven years later, I am still seeing a therapist and attend a support group for bereaved parents. My husband died 3 years, 3 months after our daughter died. Cancer killed him, but his grief was so deep, I am convinced that is what killed him. I will grieve the loss of my daughter for the rest of my life. You never get “over it”.

Well I’m a father not a mother but I buried a two day old son and a 26 year old son,, and I still have some very sad days.

Never having buried a child I cannot speak from personal experience. However, after having worked for years in a big city ER,I *have* seen death and I *have* seen mothers *and* fathers being told of their child's demise so I'm not completely unfamiliar.

But I can see that it would have been more fitting for me to say "than a parent burying a child".

Honestly, I think she looked better than her daughter, but who wants to live longer than your kids do.

Sad!

Your post touched me. Oldest brother committed suicide. It broke my parents and haunts me to this day. Holidays are the worst. Thirty-seven years ago and might as well be yesterday. May God bless you and yours.
