My condolences,
All that I can say about horses is that even though I grew up in Montana, I have never had a desire to ride or own a horse. Unfortunately My oldest daughter was into hunter-jumper competitions and all I can say about my personal experience is that “horses eat money and shit debt.”
My advice, pick a cheaper hobby like yachting or playing the slots in Vegas.

We have a saying here that the only people who own horses are rich people and fools.
I rent my place to some people for horses and the horses consume money like it was going out of style!
I always wanted a small farm with a valley where I could see horses in the pasture. Now I have it and it does not cost ME a dime.
