Most of the 'feel good' stories out there seem to involve the NEW President, Donald Trump; but this is a 'feel good' story involving a woman's generosity that will benefit many cats and dogs here in East Tennessee. G-d Bless you, Glenda.

I knew I’d mess that up...the actual author of this piece is WJHL’s Will Morris.

If anyone gets to feeling generous, my County, Mohave County Arizona could use some money for our animals. We are the fifth largest County land wise in the Country and we have a lot of stray animals. We just had to close a private no kills shelter.. Don’t ask.. very long story.

In before the “what a waste.... she could have donated it to (fill in the blank charity) and did more good blah, blah, blah”. Her money, her decision and may she rest in peace knowing that it will help a lot of throw aways.

There are a few comments like that in the local paper. I don’t have $1.2 million, but I will be leaving what I have to cats, as well. (No kids.)

I just figure a person works hard all their life and it is their money. I have known a few to “donate” it to a special building so their name is on it.. a legacy. If I didn’t have kids.. it would go to animals and orphans (the throw-aways that few care about). :)

How wonderful! One thing that shocked us — in a bad way — when we moved to E. TN was how terrible so many pet owners are. Dogs left tied up in below-zero weather without shelter, water dishes completely frozen, empty food dishes. Cats thrown out by the side of the road. Our will includes generous contributions to pet organizations.

One slimy witch had a business for cremation of pets where they’d (allegedly) cremate a pet and return its remains to the owner. It was discovered that the pets were just discarded and it took dump trucks to remove the pets’ carcasses. What the owners got in return were not their pets, but miscellaneous ashes.

I have a son, but he was raised to be responsible for his own life- so I will be leaving my money, whatever is left, to animal organizations as well. I just hope they don’t squander it, since most are run by liberals.

There was a pastor in the Maryville area that advised Christians that they would be judged in the next world by how they treated G-d's four-footed creations in THIS world. Food for thought.

Not the same as your situation, but I have seen comments across the internet from people who have cut beneficiaries out of the their will for supporting Bernie or Hillary. Hopefully, some kitties and puppies will benefit. :-)

“...they would be judged in the next world by how they treated G-d’s four-footed creations in THIS world.”

I totally believe that. I’m sure He notices how Christians treat children, animals, and challenged people — the least among us — and He will judge appropriately. I love the song, “Bless The Beasts And The Children” (but it makes me cry so I don’t listen too often).

My ex-husband’s family were Norwegian farmers in Minnesota. No human ate anything until all the animals were fed.

;) Can’t think of a better reason to not give money to someone.

I never expected money from my folks since I was raised to stand in my own 2 feet. And if I can’t take care of myself due to my own choices, giving me money wouldn’t change that - it would just be squandered most likely.

So helping some defenseless critters is the best way, IMO.

BTW, you’re in East Tennessee too?

I escaped Mexifornia 2 years ago and settled down in a holler outside Elizabethton. Right now I’m seeing the Appalachians shrouded in clouds with those wisps of smoke between the ridges. This is the prettiest area I’ve ever seen.

Anybody who's anybody is in East Tennessee... :-)

Third time's the charm. Funny thing...I took an on-line test a few years ago while stuck in soviet Red Hampshire, and the test indicated that I would be happiest in Shady Valley. Yep, that one. I was surprised that an out of the way place like Shady Valley would be in anyone's 'Best Place to Live' database. In any event; there is no chance that my wife or I would be thrilled with coming down 91 every day to work in the 'big city'. Not happening.

It is rather striking to discover how many ‘from away conservatives’ are involved with helping out with the shelters and assorted cat colonies around this region. My charges are spoiled...they get treats like tuna and ‘Greenies’. Unusual to see ferals/abandoned cats come running when the goodie wagon pulls up.
