Russia, WikiLeaks Push Back on US Report on Hacking

Russia's government responded for the first time today to a U.S. intelligence report last week on alleged Russian hacking, calling the claims "absolutely unfounded" and "amateur."

"From our point of view, absolutely unfounded accusations continue to be made on a rather amateur, emotional level, which is hardly applicable to the highly professional work of truly top-notch security services," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are really tired of these accusations," Peskov told reporters on Monday. The accusation against Russia "actually resembles a 'witch hunt' to the utmost."

The declassified U.S. intelligence report released Friday said that Russian President Vladimir Putin "ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U.S. presidential election" with the aim to "undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process, denigrate Secretary [Hillary] Clinton and harm her electability and potential presidency."

Similarly, Julian Assange editor-in-chief of the WikiLeaks website, says the Russian government was not the source for the hacked emails published by WikiLeaks.

In a press conference through the live-streaming Periscope app today, Assange called the U.S. intelligence report "embarrassing" and suggested it may have been politically motivated. "It does not have the structure of an intelligence report," he said.

Forgive me but, no, I do not believe anything that Barack Obama says. What's more, I normally have a hard time believing anything the CIA says but when it's Barack Obama's CIA saying it, that's doubly true. Trump would be foolish to commit to any kind of major foreign policy decisions based on this BS.

LOL I can’t get used to agreeing with Russian leaders :)

That being said, Putin is what he is. He needs us for various reasons. If that’s good enough to get him to do a few things for us, that’s fine.

They are still Iran’s daddy. We can’t forget that.

The CIA and FBI gather info. They never spread information in their entire history with ONE exception. When they are pushing a dishonest cover story to achieve a goal of theirs.

The fact that they are widely spreading “a story”. And that the story is backed by McCain, Linda Graham, the MSM, the Clintons, Obama, Pelosi, etc is all I need to let me know it’s 100% a lie.

Who’s going to believe the Russians?
Unfortunately, I do.

Sad when you believe the Russian government more than you do the US government.

Once upon a time the Russian people secretly tuned to Voice of America to learn the truth. My how things have changed. Still there has been no denial of the contents of the Wikileaks releases, only crying about how it might have been obtained.

We can not forget that. We are not looking for a best buddy. We are looking for a business relationship that will benefit both sides. The people President Trump is putting in place know that. They are not fools or lap dogs.

Where our interests converge we need to work together. Have you ever watched people who love playing chess. They are friendly adversaries. Would they give away their Queen out of friendship? Oh hell no! Do they hate each other when the game is over? Again no.

Keeping our minds sharp, keeping or defenses sharp, keeping our intelligence agencies top notch, keeping our diplomats on their toes....is a good thing

Mr Peskov,

We’re tired of 0 & co’s accusations too!

They’re trying to pick a fight; not good...

Just because I don’t trust the US government doesn’t mean I automatically trust the Russian government. However, I do know that I don’t have any problem with the Russian people and I am not at all interested in going to war with them because Barack Obama can’t accept that Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton fair and square. Fact is, I’m not interested in going to war with anyone. I want Donald Trump to MAGA and this BS is just a distraction to keep him from doing that. it needs to go away and I suspect that, come January 20th, it will.

And I will never forgive the Democrats for making believe the Russian government over the US government. That is completely inexcusable!!!!!!

I'm more concerned for the pawns than the queens. The queens are almost always left standing at the end of the game. Pawns, not so much.

I’ve never been a chess player and when I watched the game being played I was more fascinated watching the players than the board, so please forgive me for using the wrong analogy

I understand the “Putin is a barbarian” thing. We used to be too (Dresden, Hiroshima) before we became so civilized that we sacrifice the limbs and lives of our warrior rather than take a chance of harming anyone, even those who turn around and stab us in the back. We have been so “surgical” that 16 years later our enemy is bigger and stronger than ever and more innocent people die every day as a result.

He can learn something from us, we can learn something from him but between us I want this blight against humanity wiped from the face of the earth.
