Melania… putting the ‘lady’ back into ‘First Lady’.
After 8 years in office, you’d think someone would have coached Michelle on how to at least FAKE being gracious. With all those sycophants, advisors and hangers-on, SOMEBODY should have stepped in at SOME point along the way.
Or maybe Michelle just has no ‘effs’ to give anymore.

It is a tradition that the incoming first lady hands a present to the outgoing first lady on Inauguration Day. There’s a 2001 video of Michelle Obama giving a box present to Laura Bush in the same spot in the same situation.
Laura Bush simply held the box on her side and smiled during the photo op.

You may be right. A friend in Europe phoned on Friday who said Michelle’s face looks puffy and wondered why.
This is not necessary. They were about to take an official type photo. Michelle was caught off guard. I don’t know why and she was flustered. But lay off. She seemed to be taking the day hard. I don’t know. But she is gone.
I think I agree with you. I watched this and what I saw was an actual attempt at being welcoming by both she and Obama.
Sure, she was surprised, mainly about what to do with it (open it up there?, hand it off? Should I hold onto it?).
Did Michelle give Laura Bush a gift?
If not, she may well have not been expecting it.
The linked site has a video from 8 years ago when MICHELLE GAVE LAURA BUSH A GIFT during the equivalent time in Obama’s first inauguration. Laura Bush handled the gift with class. Michelle has great difficulty being gracious...period!
Moochelle learns nothing. She is an angry black lady with a big ass. She is Aunt Ester. She will be pissed off when they slam the coffin lid down on her.

Oh, for God’s sake. I am no fan of the Wookie, but she did not act unseemly when presented with the gift. She just looked for someone to hand it to so she could go on with the greeting. She did nothing wrong.
Agreed. The woman has a dozen or more wigs and a staff hairdresser, yet on the day of handing over power, she just puts her hair in a rubber band.
This “why bother?” gesture was calculated to disrespect the Trump family and the American people.
Since it was inevitable, and she's been quoted as being really ready to get on with her life, it shouldn't be too tough a deal to be a little gracious....
