... this wig weighs a ton! What dope’d wear a thing like this?
Rosco: Everybody used to wear them, Lina.
Lina: Well then everybody was a dope!

What in the Wide World of Sports is a-going on here? I hired you people to get a little track laid, not to jump around like a bunch of Kansas City faggots!

I know this isn't one of 'em, but I always chuckle at this line from Still Crazy: "If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, drummers must be from Pluto."

A wink from a pretty girl at a party rarely results in climax, Karl. But a man would be a fool not to push a suggestion as far as it will go. - The Eagle Has Landed.

Did you ever see the sequel (2010: The Year We Make Contact)? It's pretty good. It opens with Dave saying "My God! It's full of stars!"

(Interesting bit of trivia: The phrase "My God, it's full of stars" was not a part of the film 2001, but was a part of the novel. In the novel, the "star gate" monolith was found on the surface of Saturn's moon Japetus (or Iapetus), rather than floating in space near Jupiter. As Bowman flies over the monolith, it suddenly changes from a towering slab to an infinite tunnel. As this happens, he utters the final phrase: "The thing's hollow! It goes on forever, and... oh My God, it's full of stars!")

My favorite actor in the sequel was John Lithgow. He played the scientist Dr. Walter Curnow, who built the Discovery.

The largest number out of the one hundred came from Casablanca. Maybe the huge productions like Gone With the Wind and Citizen Kane are considered finer art, and for pure cinematography they are indeed masterpieces. But movies are entertainment and their purpose is to make the audience laugh, cry, cheer, think, or all four at once. In that respect Casablanca is hard to beat.

I mean, really, Ingrid Bergman when she was at the height of her beauty, the most memorable song ever sung within a non-musical movie, Humphrey Bogart spouting line after line of pure genius, Claude Rains as the ultimate suavely corrupt police captain, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre supporting, most of the rest of the cast actual refugees of the Nazis, and head Nazi ending up shot by the hero in the finale. It just doesn't get better.

I like that line best when Fred Sanford spoke it to Lamont.

The quote seems originally from the novel and movie ‘Friends of Eddie Coyle’.

I think John Wayne used the quote on a TV variety show, not in a movie.
