The leftist theory is always that prosperity is the inexorable development of History as is poverty. Those who become prosperous just happened to move to the to-be-prosperous place at the right time to become prosperous themselves. Years ago I heard all about how the Jews who built the garment industry in New York really didn’t build anything, they just happened to be the group that moved in just as the needle trades were taking off.
Lefties will tell you that success and prosperity is just an accident of geography, and I think that’s bs. Some cultures promote advancement and growth, other cultures promote oppression and stagnation. It’s no accident that citizenship in countries with European culture is coveted.
