Dao is a doctor and all five of his kids are doctors. Daughter seemed very nice. He and his wife left Vietnam in 1975 on a boat. Scary at the time, but he thrived here. Said being dragged off plane like that was scarier than fleeing Vietnam. He is emotional traumatized. Daughter says all kids are shaken and upset. Couldn’t all come to Chicago. At least one still in med school.
I have to say I probably knew little, if any, when I was in Pittsburgh, just based on how few Jewish kids I knew [we had literally ONE in our HS} but going to law school at GW I learned much in the way of Yiddish just based on my peer group and friends.

I am having a rough few days. Went off all pain meds due to anxiety attacks, yet they continue. I sobbed for an hour this morning for no real reason. I have pain, but it is not from my knee. My so called good knee has some shooting pains at times and my feet hurt. Usually they don’t but I do have some neuropathy in them, although they improved a lot recently. I cannot take much more of this. I am stir crazy. I was only on tramadol, but even that is an opiate. Less side effects, but still. I just want to be normal. Get out of the house and live a little. Not happening. It’s getting me down. So maybe a bit of depression, but I think not. Really could use some prayers.

Maybe it takes time for those side effects to wear off-stay positive as you can. Cabin fever is enough to give anyone a major anxiety attack-even without meds...
Can you go outdoors at all-even sitting in the back yard in a chair in the nice, fresh air might be helpful...

Tuesday I went to my daughter’s restaurant. Almost done and so very cool. I sat in chair on deck overlooking the river. Will take video for you all when it’s done.
