Someone turned over your email address to the spammers. Might as well just plan on getting a new email address.

All it takes is for one “wrong” entity to get your private e-mail address, and it’s all over. In my case, I get ads about toenail fungus.

I get some spam emails every day. Most go into my Junk mailbox, but every so often, I’ll get one in my regular mailbox, and will have to mark it junk so my mail program will recognize it in the future as junk mail.

I actually believe that some businesses’ main source of profit is based on selling email addresses.
And if you hit an “unsubscribe” button you’re acknowledging that it’s a valid email address that gets checked by a real person, so it’ll get sold and resold as a “verified” email that spam companies drool over. Best to just delete them. If you have a “block sender” function that may help.
To: Dr. Sivana
If you press the unsubscribe option that they give you, that let's them know that it is a legitimate E-MAIL. They personally might not send you any more E-MAIL, but they will sell off your address to other marketers. It only expands from there.

Nothing unusual here. My email provider charges me about $48 per year, but I get a huge amount of storage space and a great spam filter.

Some advice. Have a second email address that has no private information about you and you do no personal email on. Use that email address to sign up for web services that are likely to expose you to spam instead of your real email address.

These emails originate from a site called surgetouch.com
I’m getting ready to report these guys to the spam cops!

If you're unlucky, clicking on "unsubscribe" will direct you to a web site that will attack your machine.

You have given your email address to some business who sold the address to a clearing house. They in turn sell “hot” email addresses to spamming companies.
Same thing happens with your telephone number. This is why I still have a home phone number and a cell phone number. I never give my cell phone to a business unless it’s the auto repair place who needs to call me for approval. Routine business get my home phone, and all of the crank third party begging calls go to my home phone.
