People always talk bad about a chicken dinner. Be it a $50 a plate "rubber chicken" dinner at a fundraiser for some state rep, a low-budget dinner served at a wedding reception (usually at a VFW hall) buffet-style in those big metal trays heated with sterno cans or maybe a "grab-and-go" dinner for home after work.
What I mean by "grab-and-go" are usually those ubiquitous rotisserie chickens that are under those hot lights at supermarkets all across America for something like $7.99 for an entire chicken ($5.99 if you have the store discount card).
But damn, those rotisserie chickens sure are good.
I told my gastroenterologist last year when he performed a gastroscopy on me, that I've had so many procedures with him that he should start offering a rewards program for his long-time patients. He laughed.
You are welcome.
I had chicken terryaki tonight. I use lemon when I cook chicken, it keeps the chicken from drying out.
I teach in the south & on Fridays ladies will often let us know they are doing plate lunches if we want to order one. They deliver. There are often collards. This meal would sell out. People are stupid and/or have too much time on their hands.
Sounds so good right about now. Miss Pauline makes the best chicken dressing w/ collards & mashed potatoes. I am torturing myself ; )
Agreed.
And if someone or something is double-plus-good, make sure they know, too!
Fresh lemon is so good & brings up the flavor on chicken & chops. Yum!
Had one. I don’t envy you, but once it’s over there are virtually no side effects except for hunger.
Good luck!
There’s a reason the craps table dealer shouts, “Winner winner chicken dinner!” and not, “Winner winner tofu salad!”
Yes, those are indeed to be avoided. I was fortunate to have a Horse Dinner several months ago.
When I had my first one two years ago I asked if I could take the pills instead of that ghastly liquid and my doctor prescribed those. Much better than drinking that nasty stuff.
Thanks for the good luck wishes. I’ve already told my son that we’re stopping at McDonald’s on the way home so I can pick up some breakfast.
For some reason, my doctor has always prescribed the Dulcolax pills, followed four hours later with the prep mix (64 ozs.).
Its a great way to waste bad beer and not feel as bad as you would when dumping it out. Has no positive effect on the chicken.
Ive tried fruit juices and sodas also, it didnt do much. Having also used empty cans on other birds like turkeys, ducks, and geese, Ive become convinced that the increased moisture is the result of the way the heat travels during vertical roasting that seals off juices from leaking into the cavity and escaping.
Same here. Drank the gallon and then lost the last quart. Evidently it was enough to do the job. I didn't get any complaints.
I get to do a repeat in a month. The prep this time will be just a little over two quarts. Should be much easier to handle.
Good luck with your prep and procedure next month.
Smart & Final has really good chicken.
