Amazon Prime Wardrobe will let you try on clothes before you buy them

Amazon is launching Prime Wardrobe, a new program that will let you try on clothes before you buy them. Once you select at least three Prime Wardrobe-eligible pieces from over a million clothing options, Amazon will ship your selections to you in a resealable return box with a prepaid shipping label.

After you try on the clothes, you can put the ones you don’t want back in the box and leave it at your front door — Prime Wardrobe also comes with free scheduled pickups from UPS. If you decide to keep at least three items you will get a 10 percent discount off your purchase, and if you keep five or more pieces the discount rises to 20 percent.

Agreed. Clothing is one of those things I gotta have my hands on to make a decision....but everyone is different, it may just work.

Data is am amazing thing. With people trying on different sizes and reporting back on the fit, “manufacturer’s size” is no longer important. Amazon will be able to predict exactly what fits you based on what fit you in the past and what fits other people.

How many times have you picked out an item of clothing that was marked as your size only to find that it didn’t fit? Usually foreign made.

...

How many people notice that their clothes shrink when they haven’t been worn for awhile?

What are you basing that opinion on? What competitive force is going to stop Amazon? The grocery business is (pun intended) ripe for disruption.

I bought 5 pairs of chinos at Costco all the same band and marked as the same size. Had to take 3 back one was to big in the waist and length one was to short in length and one was to small in the waist. 2 from Red China and one from Red Vietnam.

Has happened to me many times.
Now I always try on for fit before I buy if possible.
(Especially shoes and pants.)
(T-Shirt sizes are often wrong too.)

I buy from Lands End. It has pants that do not skip 2” on the waist like 36, 38, 40 as the stores do plus they measure the inseam by the 1/4”. I sent a few back when I started ordering from them as they were too long but the 37” waist was just right. They also have pants that have an elastic strip in them if you er... gave some weight back. Saves money.

The problem with buying clothes at Costco is, you can’t try them on and have to drive across town to take things back.

Been buying the same Gloria Vanderbilt jeans there for a decade. Don’t have a membership, but friends can pick them up for me. Plus frozen salmon patties and frozen organic blueberries. Occasionally King Crab legs, fresh from Alaska, better than lobster.
Conceivably, if Amazon product managers have their wits about them, they can compete with Costco. Big plus, delivery and no parking problems.
