Vigneron, owner of Wolf Restaurant on Melrose Avenue, has been a chef for more than 20 years. He’s appeared on “Top Chef,” “Iron Chef” and many other shows over the years. He is also an avid surfer.

“We’re calling it ‘Straws Suck’ because if you think about it it’s a play on words,” said Vigneron. “You actually use straws to suck and they suck because they pollute the oceans.”

Well, quit dumping the waste from your restaurant in the ocean.

They still exist in the current days. My understanding is the ban straws crowd does not have an issue with all straws, just the plastic ones.

So have all the baby whales been saved and comfortably put to bed? Now we have all this free time to find another cause!

Always liked the science class demonstration of jabbing a paper straw through a potato. So very glad my thumb was more formidable than the potato.

First they came for the straws.....oh never mind. Black market straws? Good fn grief. Went to a Rolling Stones concert once. They wouldn’t hand out straws, I am thinking that was for another reason.

We don’t harm the oceans with any of the plastic we use. We burn it all.

I thought they wanted to ban plastic straws because they kill birds? Apparently birds swallow them and unlike paper straws they don’t dissolve.

I remember paper straws from my early childhood.
Have not seen once since I was maybe age 6.

As God is my witness, I have never seen straws marching into the ocean.

But I have seen a lot of litter thrown out of cars by people who don't give a crap about pollution.

Perhaps straws are not the problem.

Hmmm?

Has anyone ever seen anybody actually ticketed for littering?

Yes and they worked fine. We had paper bags, paper straws, paper cups, cardboard cartons for drinks...then they just had to change it all to plastic. Now worried about plastic polluting they want to go back to paper.

The big problem they will have going back now is the environmentalists have crippled our logging industry so pretty hard to supply all the paper needed if we switch everything back. Not to mention not allowing responsible logging and livestock grazing of our forests which is why all these fires get so out of control and our trees are bug infested and dying off.

At some point it would be nice if the liberals would admit they may have made some unwise choices along the way. Unintended consequences is something they need to look at with many of their policies to “save” the environment.

Sorry for the rant, this is all a major issue to me.

WhyTF would a bird eat a plastic straw? Take a crow. It’ll pick up colorful pieces of paper and plastic. They make nests out of them. They eat FOOD. They’ll pick through uncovered garbage pails throwing out the inebibles on the ground till they find food.
