Yorkies must must be missing those genes in spades. Although mine is really smart as well as friendly. But I haven’t noticed any affinity for music. Other than sirens :-)
“Primitive” breeds, such as Salukis, Ibizan Hounds and Afghan Hounds are infamous for their aloofness.
However, it is a useful trait as they are independent hunters.
The downside is that when involved in rescue of such breeds, it takes much longer [if ever] to get them over their history of abuse.
Like wild canids, they survive on empirical evidence, as it were.
A bad experience is rarely repeated, thereby increasing their odds of survival.
