I just wanted to let the community know that my Dad past away last night at 95 years . He was an American hero, a World War II B17 pilot with the 8th Air Force 379th Bomb Group out of Kimbolton Airfield England. He flew 25 missions and returned to be an B29 flight instructor at Roswell New Mexico. He became a petroleum engineer after graduating from OU and travelled the world with his family drilling wells for Mobil Oil and providing energy for all of us. BTW, I asked him about the Roswell incident , he was there at the time, and he said he didn't know anything about it and never heard a word. So there you go.

I lost my World War II, Korea and Vietnam Marine father in 2002 so I know a bit of what you’re going through. Sorry for your loss.

I was talking to my Daughter a few days ago. She and her family live a thousand miles away.
I mentioned to her that both of her Grandfathers were combat veterans of WWII. That is actually fairly uncommon.

I thank your father for my freedom. It took a courage few of us could imagine to climb into a four-engine bomber and go on missions over Nazi Germany. There were giants in those days. My condolences for your loss.

My father, Charles Richardson, built the housing at Roswell. I was very young but even I heard about it. One of my father's friend was a pilot and told a story about seeing some amazing things while flying.my father was WW2 vet also, Navy.

Thank you to your dad for his service.

Sorry for your loss. My father was Hump Pilot, flew over the Himalayas in an often sub-standard B-24. They were real heroes. He’ be 95 if he was alive today. Went way too early.

Sincere condolences, FRiend. I know the feeling well. My dad flew C-47s over the Hump and then dropped supplies to Italian partisans. He was awarded the DFC. He passed away, much too young, in 1988. We lost Mom last February, age 96. She was an Army flight nurse. I will never stop missing them. You have great memories and obviously honor your father.
May God bless your dad’s soul and keep him in Heaven for eternity.

Your Dad is up there with mine, both of them celebrating VE and VJ Day now.
They truly were an amazing generation of Americans.
