Consider sheep like the snowflakes, born looking for a place to crash. And yes, they can be glum and listless by nature, like most millennials.
We raised sheep, goats, cows and horse, but fed them from troughs, so not many stupid animal deaths.

Animal first people will tell you it was better than the sheep being exploited by man for wool or food.

My leading killer of sheep is tipped over ewes. They graze every summer evening from around 6:00pm until dark. Then they lay down to sleep. If it’s a nice cool evening they will roll onto their side. Then the gas bloated them up until the are on their backs unable to right themselves. The pressure cuts off blood flow to the lower extremities and they die if not manually turned back over.
I had a ewe greedy at feeding time and they were crowding the tractor pulling my hay load. One walked right into the splices on my pto shaft. Spun her around and around like a rag doll.

I see it as a story of a pricks in government who don’t have to worry where their next meal comes from—like these farmers. If they need money, they merely raise taxes. And if you don’t pay up, you get SWAT-teamed.
If it impacted these government tyrants ability to prosper or feed themselves, they’d never introduce bears anywhere. But since it doesn’t impact them, screw the people.
Yep! Exactly. I worked a regular job at nights and when I got home in the morning my heeler would take me out to the ones tipped over. Early spring to mid summer. Once the lush pasture growth slows down the problem goes away.
Spain and France have also reintroduced wolves, which are now wreaking havoc with livestock and are suspected of being responsible for several deaths of people, mostly elderly, in rural areas.
