Is it claiming now that keeping his mental aberration silent during that time MADE him effective,or was repressing his abnormal urges what made him effective? In either case what it became AFTER service is no more relevant than saying you could/should still be a prima ballerina 10 years and 100 lbs after your last performance of Swan Lake.HE was worthy as a MAN, not a mental case. BTW- what mental problems make one unqualified for service? Are ALL psychiatric problems ok now?
