The 'Hack' Narrative Collapses
https://market-ticker.org ^ | 08/17/2017 | Karl Denninger

This is a pretty-good read, all-in. ********************* “A speed of 22.7 megabytes is simply unobtainable, especially if we are talking about a transoceanic data transfer,” Folden said. “Based on the data we now have, what we’ve been calling a hack is impossible.” Last week Forensicator reported on a speed test he conducted more recently. It tightens the case considerably. “Transfer rates of 23 MB/s (Mega Bytes per second) are not just highly unlikely, but effectively impossible to accomplish when communicating over the Internet at any significant distance,” he wrote. “Further, local copy speeds are measured, demonstrating that 23 MB/s is a typical transfer rate when using a USB–2 flash device (thumb drive).” ***************** [Karl] I wouldn't go so far as to claim impossible, but I would say "highly unlikely." The second part of the statement, however, is utterly true -- it is completely consistent with either a SD card or USB flash drive inserted into a computer.

I've excerpted this post by Karl on the assumed premise that FR would not permit a link to The Nation. The article in The Nation is fairly long, but the salient parts are brought out and I have also summarized them in this post. The hack of the DNC files was an inside job. There really isn't another plausible explanation. As the transfer was timestamped, in the evening, when even dedicated liberals might have already gone home, in July when HRC was the inevitable candidate, there is every possibility that the person who downloaded the files can/could be narrowed down to 2-3-4 people. This makes the FBI's failure to forensically examine this server even more egregious.

In brief: On the evening of July 5, 2016, 1,976 megabytes of data were downloaded from the DNC’s server. The operation took 87 seconds. This yields a transfer rate of 22.7 megabytes per second. This is known because the file transfer itself is/was timestamped.

This transfer rate is 99.999% impossible over the internet. Yes, such a rate *might* occur between two "single-hop" connected nodes. A normal office PC or server would have trouble with that amount of throughput.

But over a multi-hop connection, which is what the internet is, careful tests have shown that sustained rates over about 15 MB are not possible. Over a multi-hop connection *overseas*....forget it.

OTOH, a 23 MB transfer rate is VERY similar to the rate achievable using a USB thumb drive.

President Trump needs to call a News Conference and *FORCE*, with every bit of power available to him, the media to put it on the air during prime time. (the way they routinely did for that stupid ignorant bastard Obama.)

Trump then needs to announce this bit of information to the entire American Public, and then say, "I told you the Media was lying about this."

Game. Set. Match.

There was no hack.

It was a leak, his name was Seth Rich and he was plugged.

This has been anticipated for a long time. Where is the Trump outrage? where is Sessions? Where is Mueller?

Mueller is working with a blank check and doesn’t have to produce any work and/or work product. Sessions refuses to discuss ongoing investigations. That itself is fine. Where are any results? Trump is left on his own. I hope he makes it but the more time passes the less likely. This new report will never be addressed anywhere in the MSM.

When will cnn, msnbc, e-gop and all the rats issue a sincere apology and ask for forgiveness?

During the campaign, we were repeatedly told that “Trump has peaked”. It was wishful thinking by the Left.

During President Trump’s first 6+ months we have been repeatedly told that the current “scandal” (and how many of these silly things have they dreamed up?) would “finish” him. It was wishful thinking by the Left.

They look ridiculous.
Imagine how ridiculous they will look if they try to pull this crap for 8 full years!

Throwing things around in my head.

Let's just guess that the hack was picked up and divided up among several thumb drives...then hand carried to different sites for downloading.

This narrative will only fall apart when the Propaganda Media says it has fallen apart.

And they'll be the last people to admit that.

So "the hack narrative" lives on in the whimsical bubble of the Democrat Media—and in the hearts and minds of those who get their news from it...

Tend to doubt that scenario. The time stamps would have 3-4 interruptions in them.

There would be 3-4 “unplug > plug” sequences.

A 2 GB thumb drive as I assume you know is a complete nothing. I don’t see any purpose in dividing the download among multiple thumb drives (or SD cards)

Well, the “hack” narrative does not by itself eliminate the possibility of “collusion”.

I still see no inherent connection between the allegations that have been tossed out. There are 2 unconnected assumptions going around.

If the Russians hacked, OK, they did. Let’s assume that is a true truth. The tacit conclusion is implied that: Trump won, which nobody believes was possible. So whatever the Russians did, 1: It must have worked and 2: It must have worked in favor of Trump. These conclusions do not follow from each other; they are the same kind of 4th-grade dirtbomb throwing the Dems continuously engage in.

What if the Russians worked to elect HRC and their efforts backfired; or just simply had no perceivable effect? Never mind what is or may be believable; that could change depending upon whom you supported.

It’s not even logically coherent if we stipulate that the Russians hacked AND they were in favor of Trump. Those efforts STILL would have had to work; and there is hardly a credible explanation just how that might have occurred and certainly no evidence that such a thing even occurred at all.

How do you know that Trump or Sessions is not investigating this?

Did you really think Hillary was going to be in handcuffs on 01/21/17?

Sessions is probably building a case against Hillary and Obama right now, but you know he's not going to openly announce it and let moonbat leftists destroy the country first.

No, not really. The date/time stamps that show when the copied files were created would not have been created as the files were copied across the internet - but they could have been created as the files were first copied across the local network in preparation for their exfiltration from the local network.

There are many reasons why a hacker may have copied the files locally first. He may have wished to review them before stealing the "good" ones. He may have copied them from the mail server to a less protected workstation where he had administrative rights before compacting or encrypting the files. He may have moved them into a common directory before running a process on them that would hide them in image or video files (making them easier to exfiltrate.)

Karl is a smart man (even though he does admit to having voted for Barack Obama) so when I notice him failing to mention something as obvious as this I have to wonder why... Then again, when it comes to Market Ticker and Karl Denninger it is always a good idea to keep your eyes open and look for ulterior motives.

I do understand that Sessions may be investigating. That doesn’t mean he is getting anything accomplished. Anything that would come out will be subject to Statute of limitations. The only way to get Hillary and/or Obama is to charge them with “ongoing Criminal enterprise”. This is a RICO action. The statutes are running.
No I didn’t expect arrests on 1/17/17. I do expect charges by 8/21/17. 7 months is a long time. These crimes were from 2008 forward. Do the math.

The whole group of people and the media pushing this conspiracy need investigating....but that will never happen.

This was an active conspiracy to take down a sitting president because they had a fit on who the people chose.

It’s not even logically coherent if we stipulate that the Russians hacked AND they were in favor of Trump.

Hillary Clinton has said many times the Russians hacked her email. She has also said Julian Assange=Russians, same thing she said.

Because some evidence is starting to surface that the data was transferred at such a high rate of speed that it could NOT have been hacked but rather was transferred to a memory device, that means that the only logical conclusion is that it was an inside job.

Because Seth Rich was murdered gang style by being shot in the back of the head, he is of course a likely source of the DNC leaks. Couple that with the fact Rich was a Bernie supporter, and that gives a very good motive for Rich to try to expose Hillary's House of Liars and Traitors.

These facts couple with the insane headlines of today suggest the Demonrats are pulling out all stops to cause havoc in the US. President Trump correctly said that the Charlottesville riot was caused by both sides which is obviously correct. But the presstitute's line from minute ONE is that the left's anti Facists are morally right therefore they can beat people and even cause deaths without fear of being exposed by the press. The plan is to align President Trump with the NAZIS, something that only a trained community organizer would try to pull off.

The Demonrats MUST stop the coming arrests and prosecutions. If Hillary goes down, then Hussein Obama will be fully exposed. The RATS will kill innocent children in the streets and schools to prevent the truth from being printed. They cannot allow Hussein Obama and Hillary to be arrested.

This was an active conspiracy to take down a sitting president because they had a fit on who the people chose.

It's much bigger than that.

The RATS had the Constitution neutered, they owned Washington and their lawlessness was going to be buried in every James Comey like investigation. Even when it is obvious serious crimes were committed, Att. Gen Lynch and FBI Dir Comey would bury it. The RATS had smooth sailing to the next changes meant to neuter our Constitution.

Hillary said "if that f'n bas#$%d is elected, we will all hang" or words to that effect.

WHY did she say that? Because the evidence is so simple and straight forward that even Marsh Clark could get convictions. A conviction of a Susan Rice level hack means they advance to the next step in line. Hillary like anyone else with an IQ much above room temperature knows what a real series of investigations would show. Therefore, the Trump game must be stopped.

To stop it, anything and everything is on the table. Charlottesville, Burkley, San Jose, Boston..... Riots by paid rioters and actors. Tie Trump to the fanatic right by 24/7 news reports. RUSSIA is falling apart, now it's plan "B", Trump supports NAZIS.

Only a card carrying DEMONRAT would be foolish enough to believe their silliness.

In theory yes, but that does not serve our political interests to mention this possibility, so I would borrow a page from the Liberal Media, and only mention such things as support our narrative. Truth be D@mned, this is war.

There are many reasons why a hacker may have copied the files locally first. He may have wished to review them before stealing the "good" ones.

And how many hours would this have required to wade through a couple of gigabytes worth of data? The theory that there was a local copy prior to a lower speed transfer through the internet is a very weak theory.

Then again, when it comes to Market Ticker and Karl Denninger it is always a good idea to keep your eyes open and look for ulterior motives.

It's always a good idea to do that with everyone, but then i'm quite the cynic nowadays.

At some point (perhaps many points) one has to pause and consider the depth of the multiple criminal enterprises that have gone on.

Part of the reason it is so deep, I imagine, is because the various perpetrators knew that nobody would believe even 10% of the allegations.

OK, maybe the Awans are scammers, double-billing computer gear. But to think they’ve possibly used the information they were ultimately given access to to actually blackmail the congpeople who hired them....?

OK, maybe HRC used a private server and etc etc etc but within the first 2 years of her term as SOS we actually have 18 dead CIA agents in China? And it’s kind of like “whoops”?

I’m reminded of an episode of the Sopranos where Tony et al not only paid off a HUD clerk to shoot them a foreclosed building (like a 3 or 4-plex) at far below market, they went into the building and stripped out the copper wiring & plumbing, then abandoned the building.

I think there is a real part of most politicians (on both sides) in DC where they are so utterly gobsmacked at the lifetime crimes the Clintons have gotten away with and how many tens of million they managed to snake for themselves, that there is in fact crime envy.
