Sorry, any

encounters I have won't be in video games -- so, fictional weapons won't hack it...

Descendant of the guy who invented the microscope and first viewed and reported microbes?

Unfortunately all of my weapons were tragically lost during a freak boating accident

That's a common problem around here. FReepers should probably stick with Boston Whalers. Tough to sink *and* the name offends the animal-rights crazies. Win-win!

Just keep it clean; never drop it in the dirt and expect it to keep on working.

It’s a sweet shooting gun. It’s also easy to conceal if you want to. I had a Taurus .357 Magnum and a sheriff deputy friend of ours wanted it for a backup gun. I bought this one after I sold the .357 to him.

Well, being female it was about hand fit and weight. I carry a Kahr CM9. It’s light and compact, but not too small. After a lot of testing on the range, I found it too be very reliable.

Sorry. I responded before I understood the question and did not post about a revolver. I also own a Ruger LCR which I find comfortable for conceal carry. I don’t use it as much as my Kahr, however.

I might regularly carry a Smith & Wesson model 642 airweight in my front pocket, or maybe not. It might seem to some people that a revolver of this type just draws better from a front pocket.

IMO they do draw better. Better than a Ruger LCP. The sloped rear frame I think.

“I carry a Charter Arms Buldog in 44 Special. Very reasonably priced, very accurate and well built.”

I’d forgotten that there is one of those in my safe. Can’t find a decent holster for it, tho.

Shooting magnum rounds through it is just silly. Turns it into a flamethrower

Still, there is some psychological value to a polar bear turning into a fire breathing dragon!

I generally prefer to carry my Glock 29 or 20 but sometimes I just want something small and lightweight. The one time I needed that 340, I was ambushed by three highwaymen and I have always felt more comfortable with high cap magazine fed weapons since then. So I dress for the occasion now.

I, most of the time, carry a Rossi 88 2-1/8” stainless steel revolver in 38 Spl. Hand loaded 158 grain Speer HPSWC on top of 6.6 grains of Alcan AL-5 (similar to HS-6). This is a very accurate and powerful load. I also carry a Charter Arms 44 Bulldog ( old style) loaded with 180 grain Hornady XTP on top of 10 grains of Alcan AL-5.

Load a .357 with a top load of Blue Dot powder and talk about muzzle flash.

Sadly I lost a Ruger sp 101 in a tragic boat accident, but I would have carried it cause it could take 357 0r 38 ammo and it never jammed

I have S&W 60LS and a 649. I know nothing about holsters and no one in a retail store has been able to help me.
I'm looking for the retro style gun under the left arm pit and not attached to the belt. I am unable to comfortably carry any holster on my hip other than my Ruger LCP. Brand name, model numbers would be appreciated.

Like 2banana says, find a better holster. Leather holsters form-fit to the gun type by a reputable maker will not let the gun fall free. A good holster will hold on to the gun even if the wearer turns a somersault. Kydex holsters form-fit for the gun should do the same thing.

I’ve carried a hammerless, lightweight j-frame for years in a leather holster and never had it come loose, including while doing things like picking up things on the floor or tools, firewood, etc, outdoors.

For the OP, a lightweight j-frame in a good holster on a purpose made gun belt can cover the majority of emergencies a gun is need for in most civilized parts of the US, in my opinion.
