As Joseph Arpaio’s federal case headed toward trial this past spring, President Trump wanted to act to help the former Arizona county sheriff who had become a campaign-trail companion and a partner in their crusade against illegal immigration.
The president asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions whether it would be possible for the government to drop the criminal case against Arpaio, but was advised that would be inappropriate, according to three people with knowledge of the conversation.
After talking with Sessions, Trump decided to let the case go to trial, and if Arpaio was convicted, he could grant clemency.
Trump and Arpaio became brothers in arms five years ago. As they saw it, the two provocateurs — one a celebrity real estate developer, the other a polarizing sheriff — were pursuing justice in the form of supposed evidence that Obama’s birth certificate was fraudulent.
“There was no collusion,” Arpaio said in an interview Saturday. “I started my birth certificate investigation around the same time he did his.”
The Manhattan mogul sent Arpaio a fan letter and flattered him on social media. “Congratulations to @RealSheriffJoe on his successful Cold Case Posse investigation which claims @BarackObama’s ‘birth certificate’ is fake,” Trump tweeted in 2012.
Three years later, in July 2015, when Trump swooped into Arpaio’s hometown of Phoenix for the first mega-rally of his upstart presidential campaign, the sheriff returned the favor by testifying on stage to “the silent majority” that Trump had begun to awaken.
Backstage at that rally, Arpaio recalled, the two men talked about their shared birthday — June 14, which is Flag Day. Their friendship blossomed and Arpaio became a fan favorite at Trump rallies. “I had a gut feeling that he was going to win,” Arpaio said.

These reporters are the first that I have seen to correctly report that Trump and Arpaio never claimed that Barry was born in Kenya, but only that his BC was a forgery!

We will NEVER know the complete story on the man who has helped destroy the country.The Flim Flam Man called Barrack Obama or Barry Soerto born in Kenya,Indonesia or Hawaii and a resident of Kenya as a British subject or USA with multiple Social Security numbers and fake Birth Certificate. Very few knew him. His family is a total mystery and solid records of him are scant. The A-hole is an enigma and continues to help destroy the country. Very few challenged this SOB and they include Patriots Joe Arpaio and Donald Trump.
The maniacs are losing all credibility. This dedicated and wonderful man does not belong in jail. Thank God President Trump listened to his better angels instead of those who surround him who keep advocating for politically correct decisions.

I think “Sid Viscious” was the guy on Hillary’s team responsible for pushing the Barry was born in Kenya story. Now whether it is true or not remains to be seen!
Corsi seems to have found proof that docs were removed from the Kenyan gov’t birth archive when the Bush Admin requested an official investigation, IIRC.

McClatchy followed up with a story that quoted a statement from Asher, “During that meeting, Mr. Blumenthal and I met together in my office and he strongly urged me to investigate the exact place of President Obama’s birth, which he suggested was in Kenya. We assigned a reporter to go to Kenya, and that reporter determined that the allegation was false.”
Blumenthal swiftly denied pushing any birther rumors. And Asher, when pressed for more detail, was less definitive in an email to POLITICO.
“To the best of my recollection, these are the facts about my interaction with Sidney Blumenthal in late winter of 2008,” Asher said. “Blumenthal visited the Washington Bureau of McClatchy, where he and I met in my office. During that conversation and in subsequent communications, we discussed a number of matters related to Obama. He encouraged McClatchy to do stories related to Obama and his connections to Kenya.”
“On the birther issue, I recall my conversation with Blumenthal clearly,” Asher said, but acknowledged having “nothing in writing memorializing that conversation.”
“This story is false,” Blumenthal reiterated in an email. “I never spoke to Mr. Asher about this. Period. Donald Trump cannot distract from the inescapable fact that he is the one who embraced and promoted the birther lie and is responsible for it.”
Never forget: Barack himself claimed Kenyan birth, until disqualifying to his goals.
Worth repeating. The genesis of “foreign Obama” was HILLARY.
