BERKELEY, Calif. - A University of California, Berkeley, police officer taking the cash out of a hot dog vendor's wallet has caused outrage in the community.

An alum took cellphone video of the campus police officer citing a street food vendor for not having a proper license. The video, taken after Saturday's Cal football game, also shows the officer going through the street vendor's wallet and taking out his cash.

KTVU reports that Cal alum, Martin Flores, asked, "Are you going to take his hard-earned money?"

The officer responds, “Yup.”

Flores then says, "People can drink on campus on football games and no ticket, but a hard-working man, selling hot dogs, earning a living, gets his money taken away and a ticket."

The officers said that the street vendor didn't have the proper permit for selling food.

This happened to me in San Francisco and I wasn’t even selling anything.

People thinks this only happens in Mexico or maybe the Caribbean and that’s wrong, it happens in the USA, also.

as much as we need and I personally support good, honest police....
there ARE some crooked ones, too

(I had a much, much larger value stolen by “bad cops”)

any police chief, city council, or other governing person/board needs to set and then constantly teach and stress the absolute NEED for honesty (and courtesy) in police and investigative work..................one bad cop can ruin the reputation of an entire department of good, honest policemen

That’s the kind of Cop who doesn’t question orders to pull back while Antifa attacks innocent people at a rally.

I want to see a cop take a little girl's lemonade money away after saying she doesn't have a permit.

Citing for not having a permit is one thing, but the cop crosses the line into enforcing a penalty without the person's right to due process.

That’s the kind of cop lining his own pockets. He’s worse than a common criminal.

He knows he is being taped and he does it anyway? I assume Bezerkeley is run 100% by Democraps? So I wouldn’t be surprised if they allow cops to do this.

I'm thinking he took the money supposing that his victim wouldn't show up for the hearing. He's despicable.

He’s selling illegally. How do the cops deal with someone selling drugs?
Do they take the cash the person has or not?

You raise an interesting question. The salient point being “proper license”. If the vendor can show that he did indeed have the proper license, then the officer has some splainin to do.

However, not carrying a valid license is not a crime but is a violation of an ordnance, which does not result in confiscation.

It’s called evidence.

Cop will be reprimanded, I’m sure, for hassling an illegal just trying to make a living selling hot dogs.

if readers want to know why there’s so much anger and violence directed against police,

it is only PARTLY “fake angry rioters” paid for by SorozNazi to disrupt American society

it is ALSO ... REAL anger... at the 5 or 10 percent of police officers or investigatory personnel who are CROOKED THIEVES and WORSE.

the problem is COMPOUNDED, made WORSE, because it appears that the crooked cops tend to be concentrated in CROOKED POLICE DEPARTMENTS..... often (not always) in big cities...
(this occurs because a solo individual crooked cop in an honest department doesn’t tend to last there long, his honest chief or management will discipline or discharge him......but once the chief or management of a department (police or any civil service or corporate) ... goes crooked, then all the subordinates (beat cops, etc.) CAN, if they wish, also go Crooked...with impunity.

SOME of the “minority hostility” to police comes from the crooked PD’s in a few of our largest big cities, where many of the minority population live

again, there are 90 percent honest good cops, which I support and applaud and wish to say THANK YOU to!

but they really MUST help root out the bad crooked abusive cops

and that comment goes for the police unions, too

Mexican American cop stealing from a Mexican. If I were a Mexican and I were to be arrested, I would want to be arrested by an American cop with blue eyes. Mexicans have told me that.

They may take it, but do so in a verifiable chain of custody way.
This one looked like straight up theft.
