Cases in Movies or TV where Actor was Uglier than Real Person He Portrayed
Self | October 14, 2017 | PJ-Comix

In almost all instances actors portraying real life people look better (often much better) than their counterparts. Sometimes it is shocking to check what real life people look like after watching the actors portray them.

However there is one instance I can think of where the actor portraying a real life person was actually uglier than the person he was portraying. That would be in the movie "The Fifth Estate" about Julian Assange and Wikileaks. And who portrayed Julian Assange? Benedict Cumberbatch who looks weird and frightening. I know that Assange hated that movie. I wonder if part of the reason is that Cumberbatch has a strange face?

I thought John Goodman as Babe Ruth was such a case. .

Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash for sure.

Madonna as Evita.

Streep as Thatcher.

Anyone trying to play Marilyn.

Patton was certainly more refined in appearance than George C Scott. And Patton’s voice was not gruff or loud. He had a mild non-rhotic accent that he must have picked up from his Virginia ancestry.

Rosie O’Donnell when she played Betty Rubble

That doesn't make sense, because Rosie O'Donnell is not a real person.

I read the book In Cold Blood in one single day back in 1967, when I was 17, just before the movie came out. It was captivating. I have never seen a film made before or since that so closely followed the original book. It was frightening.

Too easy. One of these pictures is Martin Sheen playing Robert E. Lee. The other is the real Robert E. Lee. Can anyone guess which is which?

I don’t know who that actor is on the bottom, but Patton (top) just looks how a General should look. ;)

Interesting - I know a guy, skinny, quiet, smart, does art and sculpting - looks the part. Later I found out he was a Ranger Special Forces in Vietnam!

When the war began, Lee was a clean shaven with dark black hair. Within 5 years he had aged 20 years and was gray with a gray beard.

In broad daylight.

Brian Dennehey played a character based off Ken McElroy.

I was in Skidmore for a job a few years ago. My customer was a local that grew up there. When I asked about Skidmores notoriety he acted as if I never said it. It was very strange but I understood and respected him for it. McElroy was a no good bastard.

His wife (victim) Trinia just died a few years back. She lived in southern Missouri.

I wouldn’t call Mariel ugly (certainly not in 1983). She wasn’t well-endowed enough for the part, though. A Dorothy clone was going to be tough to cast, especially such a mature-looking 20. Jamie Lee Curtis played her in another version, and while she was decently well-endowed, was too mannish and looked too much like her mother, Janet Leigh.

The closest book to film I have seen is Catch-22.
I had read the book so many times that when my
wife and I went to the film’s premiere, I sat in
the theater mouthing nearly every line of dialogue as it was being spoken on screen.
