Bob Gimlin and Roger Patterson were riding though Buff Creek in the California wilderness on horseback (as you do) when they claim to have come across the hairy creature.

Gimlin said the footage has been thoroughly investigated by scientists all over the world, and still no answers can be provided as to Bigfoot’s existence. But he believes she’s real, and he’s trying to protect her. He added he doesn’t want people to hunt her, or be frightened of her. Sightings in the area are still commonly reported.

Yes he was. Bigfoot was first played by wrestler Andre the Giant, then later by Ted Cassidy ("Lurch" from The Addams Family.)
Will always be one of my favorite cassette tapes from childhood, though if you listen to it today, it is stunning how many gay jokes there are in it...could never be made today

I saw the documentry about bigfoot in a movie theater when I was a little kid and it had that footage.
It scared the hell outa me.
The recorded sounds were the scariest and my cousin was good at making them at opportune times. Oh man.
