We are up against a long admired, deeply ingrained attitude prevalent in the black culture. Might makes right, take what you want, you're never wrong. It is taught from birth and defended by angry, immature 'mothers' and reinforced by thug male role models. It is admired or excused even by better class blacks. Locally a 'mother' and her boyfriend went hunting KIDS who 'disrespected' her offspring. They waited in the complex parking lot and, when they thought they sighted the offender, the MOTHER told her boyfriend to open fire! He did. Hitting an uninvolved 4 year old. That's how things are settled and how they teach their kids to settle things.

It doesn't matter if it's a white woman, another black teen or an elderly person who might have a dollar(or nothing) it's fun and gives you street cred to attack whoever you want FOR whatever you want. And these 'teens' are out there making babies who will be taught to do the same. The cultural cycle MUST be broken at the source . Arrests for thug behavior should result in immediate sterilization. Mothers who produce feral teens should be sterilized and denied all federal assistance. I doubt civilized society has the courage to do what everyone knows must be done.

Did the parents approve the purchase? Did they drive him to the store? Did they watch him walk out the door with them on?

“Sorry for the kid but what white parent is so ignorant as to buy their child Air Jordans?”

I’m a grandparent and if a grandchild asked me to take them to a store to buy sneakers with money he had earned I would let him buy Air Jordans because I know nothing about them.

They are just sneakers to me.

Liberals like to say that white kids learn racism at home. No. This is how they learn it.

My oldest son was in the first grade when he noticed how bad the "kids with brown skin" behaved on the school bus.

because I know nothing about them.

Have you not watched the news at any point within the past 20 years?

Best to just eliminate welfare. How many kids would these “mothers” have, if they had to work a job to feed them?

“I’m just saddened....even stunned...that a 13 year old kid would want $120 sneakers, regardless of who paid for them.”

I’m sad that you believe that you can judge who should want whatever they desire if they are willing to pay for it and the item is legal to own. Do you think your neighbors shouldn’t own that new Escalade they purchased because an older model would have been a wiser choice?

When my son was in middle school he wanted some special basketball shoes that the ad said would help all aspiring players jump higher. He worked to earn the money and bought them. After a few weeks of wear he realized that they weren’t worth what was promised. I’m glad he learned a lesson without a beat down but I was happy that he earned his own money to buy the thing that he wanted and then came to the conclusion that the shoes really weren’t worth it.

Im sorry for that child to have learned such a terrible lesson that some friends aren’t really friends and that it’s wiser to stay away from certain people especially if they are a part of a pack. I hope he heals quickly and that the thugs are brought to justice.

So parents who approve buying something others might want to steal are to blame? NOT the parents who approve their genetic trash STEALING what someone bought? Using that thinking you’d better not buy or own jewelry or cars or anything criminals might want. Thugs like these think PAYING for anything is stupid when you can TAKE it and enjoy brutalizing a victim.

If my neighbors were, for example,in their 50's or 60's,had their house paid off, were almost...or entirely...debt free, had a good income and had planned well for retirement then I'd be OK with that.My personal situation is exactly as I described above and I drive a mid level, late model German car (not a Mercedes or Porsche).Until I reached that point I drove decent...but nothing more than decent...GM models (*not* Caddys).

As I suggested earlier I was taught by my Dad to live below my means...which,except when I was *just* starting out...I've done.My Dad,who was quite successful, drove Oldsmobiles and wore a Timex watch despite being able to afford *much* better. He denied himself...but *not* his family.

That's been my attitude and I think that such an attitude is *particularly* useful before you've reached the financial "stability" and "security" that I described above. And that includes 13 year old kids.

Just sayin'...

I don’t know the parents and the article didn’t say

When I was a teenager I bought my own clothes without parental help or supervision

It could have been shoes, cell phone, anything.

But good point that this is an example of a white boy giving into black culture and valuing things that blacks value. He should avoid dressing like a wigger and he might not get robbed as often.

IOW, they are no friends.

They’re just doing what they need to to stay safe in a group of white people.

Inside, they are still feral.

You lived in a different time where wearing certain colors, symbols and Air Jordans/Niki/Adidas weren’t going to get you killed.

“Looking back at Sports Illustrated’s famous 1990 cover story, “Your Sneakers or Your Life,” which focused on the murder of a 15-year-old boy over his Jordans and brought sneaker violence to national attention” https://qz.com/554784/1200-people-are-killed-each-year-over-sneakers/

Notice the date. 1990.

I think that raising children to work hard for what they want is a good thing even if what they want is silly or expensive.

You are sayin’ then that as a young person you never desired something that was trendy or foolish or something that all your friends had? You always checked the weather forecast and wore the appropriate attire? You always made wise choices and to this day you’ve never been influenced by your peers?

I’ve never met a perfectly logical, rational and wise person like you. Maybe you should sit on the judgment seat then.

I let my daughter do the same

I think the bigger issue may not be the time but the location. I knew people from across town who wouldn’t buy certain kinds of pants because only certain type of people wore them

Perfect? Yah,sure...that'll happen...not! With money I've always been conservative, maybe even "Midwestern".I always had decent, clean clothes...no rips, tears or stains.I always drove a decent, but not trendy, car.I always ate decent food...the kind you find at "Price Chopper" rather than Whole Foods.

Today I find myself having had a good, but far from luxurious, life and now, thanks to my conservative attitudes toward money I can afford a really nice car,Prime Rib whenever I want it (which I'd absolutely have every night were it not for doctors' repeated warnings),can afford to set the thermostat at 73 in winter and can afford to see the world (we have a trip to East Africa booked for January).

But then I'm debt free, have several decent pensions and am pushing 70....not 13,or 30.

In the early 1970s I had relatives that still lived in Camden,NJ. My cousin told me that he would run to school and run home with Obama's sons chasing him. They would beat him up and steal his shoes. One day they grabbed him and said, "man,we are tired of beating you up" and let him go. One night we were over his house around 1970 a few days before Xmas at a family get together. His dad went out to walk to the liquor store and came back two minutes later with a bloody nose. He was mugged and beaten.

Why does a 13 year old kid need $120 sneakers? Why didn't he buy $60 or $70 sneakers and put the rest in the bank?

Because 'Merica, that's why!

Why do you care what a kid does with the money he earned by his own toil?

Are you one of those nanny-staters? Because you sound like one of those nanny-staters.
