A couple of other FReepers have posted lists of places that offer discounts for veterans. The more the better since it's such a big country and not all parts of it have every business. I'm in Spain so no celebrations here but local Brits are celebrating Remembrance Day tomorrow and I got a poppy for my wife.

How do you prove you’re a vet?

I hate how Veterans Day has turned into a second Halloween for some people. For every family that takes their Korean War vet father out for a nice lunch, there are a dozen dependas pushing their way through a store after store demanding free bees all day like they are trick or treating.

I love that some places offer free meals to veterans.
I don’t love the long lines. So I probably won’t participate.

If you’re a vet and you have means to take care of yourself: a job, a place to live, all your limbs—go help someone who needs a freebie more than you.

Home Depot, Lowe’s and Auto Zone have 10% veteran discount everyday. There are others but these are the ones I use most often.
