Dining at a friend’s house and bringing 2 kinds of home made cranberry sauce. She’s supplying the jellied, canned variety. I’m also bringing a 3 part crystal dish to serve it all in and will give her the dish, if she likes it.

“are there any breakfast places open?”

If any are in your area, Cracker Barrel and Shoney’s both are open. We hit Cracker Barrel at noon and had meatloaf. Our official Thanksgiving dinner will be tomorrow, with extended family.

I like your menu.

I will be assisting on something like that at Christmas at one of my son’s house with a number of relatives.

Today it is just the wife and I in the desert and I have my favorite stew recipe in the oven in a big dutch oven. Probably eat at 2:30. (Then I will have some more at 7:00 tonight and lunch tomorrow)

Quite seriously;

Ropa Vieja

Lechon Asado

Yuca Frita could con Ajo

Papa Relleno

Croquetas De Jabon

Arroz

Assorted wine, port and even some tequila.

Favorites from over the years. Had Latino family for more than half my life now. Darn tasty food for this ol' redneck.

I’m sure there are breakfast places open. We had to search a little this morning, but then we found 2 right in town. My breakfast was interrupted repeatedly, however, by my kids texting from all over the country. It was sort of wild!

Buck up. You’ll all be back together again soon.

I’ve been making pumpkin rolls for the last few years and wanted to change it up this year.

My adult children don’t like turkey. We’re having chicken wings and frozen pizza. For real. With some traditional thanksgiving sides too.

I made several pounds of collards on Monday. Yesterday I did a tray of 32 rolls from the Brioche recipe that I usually make into braided loaves. I also did Cranberry Orange Relish.

I am done with my share of the cooking so I am watching UNC beat up on Portland on ESPN.

A delicious pork roast, dressing, candied fresh sweet potatoes, the ubiquitus green bean casserole, corn, cranberry sauce. Can NOT have TG without the French onion topped green bean casserole.

Wish I lived next door!

I am alone this year so I am keeping it simple: a big fat steak with garlic and mushrooms, broccoli, mashed potato, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and coffee.

That and giving thanks to the Lord!

Sounds just like my table, although you’re missing my favorite...corn pudding. Not a liberal in sight here in my part of East Tennessee.

Lots of good food here today. Turkey regular and fried, ham and brisket. Two kinds of mashed potatoes, gravy and the best yams I have ever tasted. Green bean casserole and corn casserole. Deviled eggs and a bunch more sides. Whole table full of pies and other desserts. Good company with all of he Vets. First time we have eaten Thanksgiving at the VFW. Good for the folks that don’t have families. God Bless Everyone.

Don’t Go Reaching Across My Plate
Albert Collins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKIHAvTuDEQ

If one thing in this world
I just can’t stand
Is bein’ at the table wit’ an ill-mannered man
Now, if he’s sittin’ on your left
Before you could eat a bite
He’ll reach across your plate
An’ you know that ain’t right

Now I like to eat, as well as any man
But there’s some rules, a fool should understand
When ya have one little helpin’
An’ one extra piece of cake
I tell ev’rybody, don’t go reachin’ across my plate

I was at a party last night, at over Big Murray
Cat reached ‘cross my plate
Got a coat sleeve in my gravy
I didn’t say a word, just looked him dead in the eye
He reached across my plate, an’ cut him a piece a pie

Now I don’t care if he did it for a prank
I don’t care, if you had a drink
Especially when I’m out, a-with my date
Now don’t you go reachin’ across MY plate

At a party last week, there was some high-class folks
Ev’rything on the table, an’ that ain’t no joke
They had barbecue possum, rattlesnake gravy
Chicken fried skunk, an’ it smelt real crazy

Ev’rything went fine, but one thing made me blue
A cat reached across my plate, for some armadillo stew
Now when you at the table, you act real nice
You say, “pass me that” or “pass me the platter”
But just because you hungry, an’ happen to come in late
Don’t you go reachin’, across MY plate

“Pass some a-that turkey over there, baby!”
“No, don’t give me none of that skunk, I don’t want none a-that”
“I, I beg your pardon”
“If this cat stop reachin’ ‘cross my plate, I can maybe ask for somethin’”
“A pass me a little a-that turkey there, baby”
Na na na na-na-na-na
Yeah-heya
“Party’ nice, party’s nice”
“Yeah, ah give gimme some a that chicken over there, baby”
“Chicken fried skunk?
