Louis Hamilton says this is the last year that F1 cars will look good because of next year’s rule that a “driver halo” safety be implemented. I don’t know what this halo will look like. Have you seen what it looks like?

The forecast high temps for Saturday and Sunday are about 79 degrees F., about four degrees below average.

I will guess they can get some brutally hot days there, even in the “winter.”

Re: “driver halo”

I don't know what that is. Sounds like a driver safety concept.

I read today that the “shark fin” and “T-wings” behind the driver's head will be outlawed for next season.

Since the fin and T-wings add downforce, I don't understand why they have (or will be) banned.

I did a search and found what the Halo device looks like. It starts with a center post swept back starting in front of the cockpit and sweeping back and up to just forward of the driver. Then the structure splits to two arcs on either side of the driver compartment that sweep back and then downward to connect to the car body on both sides of rear of the driver compartment. Looks like it would protect from cockpit intrusions from other cars, but will make it much more difficult to exit the car.

I have been through the Abu Dhabi airport. The domed terminal with the tile mosaics were the fanciest airport terminal I ever traveled through.

Sadly, LAX and Laguardia are nothing like Abu Dhabi. I hope Trump pushes to fix that. Another nice airport is Singapore. US airlines don’t compare either. That should change too.

That’s Rad man, what a departure from “open air” motoring. Has there been a lot of head injuries in F1 recently?

There have been many close calls, but the last driver impact fatality in F1 that I remember was Senna in 1994 at the Italian GP in Imola. He wrecked and a front tire and rods broke off and one of the suspension rods punctured his helmet. I do not see how this design will prevent that.

Jules Bianchi died in a crash in 2014 in Japan. The Halo wouldn’t have saved him. Caution, it’s hard to watch.

I should have written, that Jules died from the head trauma caused by the accident. He was on life support for several months. He was a well like driver that had a lot of upside. The loader was on the side of the track removing another car when Jules lost control and hit it.

One of the senior manager’s at the company I’m working with on my business trip here got my coworker and I some passes. Did the pit walk on Thursday and going out there to watch a practice round later today. Should have a UAEAF flyover today too. I’m not an F1 guy but won’t pass up the opportunity either. Weather is great. Some remarks above refer to the Abu Dhabi airport. They are building an even newer and bigger terminal that will open next year. They may not build the stuff themselves here but sure know how to buy things. Cheers!

Its the sad truth, since being in the middle east I have flown on Qatar and Emirates Airways and there is a world of difference between them and what we have ( United, US Airways, Delta), and huge difference.

Today's cars are starting to look like giant insects compared to the older cars.
