Navajo Nation council delegate Amber Kanazbah Crotty called Trump’s remark “problematic” and said his words diminish the experience of Pocahontas and all Native Americans.

Don't presume to speak for me, Amber. And, how do words diminish the experience of being Indian?

Being Indian is not an experience. It is who one is, and if words diminish who you are, then you're rooted in nothing.

That didn't actually happen. The President was mocking Warren, not making a derogatory statement about the REAL Pocahontas and/or Native Americans in general.

Exactly. If someone lied about being a world class boxer to get a scholarship, and Trump called him Joe Lewis or Mike Tyson, it would not be a dig at Lewis or Tyson, or at black people. It would simply be mocking someone for making a ridiculous assertion.

He did no such thing. He merely called Warren by the name of a famous female American Indian, mocking no one but Warren.

My great-grandfather was Powhatan (Pamunkey) — my Nana was born on the reservation in Virginia. I am not offended by the “Pocahontas” remark.... any media types want to interview me? I have more Indian blood than Warren, that’s for sure.

My great grandfather was a Powhatan also and my family traces back to early 1600’s Virginia-—. Possibly Pocahontas is in there also. And lots of other Powhatans in our line.
