More Than 100 Reindeer Slaughtered by Trains in Norway

More than 100 reindeer have been fatally mowed down by freight trains in northern Norway in the past week in a pre-Christmas “bloodbath,” according to reports.
One train killed 65 deer on the tracks on Saturday and another 41 died in the same gruesome fashion between Wednesday and Friday of last week during the animals’ winter migration.
“I’m so angry that I’m dizzy,” Ole Henrik, the owner of the 65 dead reindeer, told NRK, a Norwegian government-owned radio and television public broadcasting company.

OK, and how about nematodes? Hundreds of billions are slaughtered everyday as farmers grow food for the world. What’s the count on humans slaughtered through abortion? Are animals more important than humans? And Fungi? Good God! All those hyphae torn asunder everyday, every hour, every second. Does not the world care about that?

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
They thought it pretty funny,
till they all got hit by trains.

In Wisconsin thousands of cars are hit by wild deer every year. Can’t understand what the Norwegians are complaining about. Its free meat.

In Oklahoma, if a car hits a cow, the farmer/rancher is liable for the damage caused by his not attending to an open fence, or filled in cattle guard... Did they have to repaint the train?
In Vermont, moose challenge the New York to Montreal train. They NEVER win...

Former Wisconsin here. Every year a vehicle we operated was severely deer damaged. Deer thru the windshield, antlers thru the oil cooler, one even made it half way in thru the side window on the drivers side. The rut season combined with night time grain combines made driving scary. A deer at any moment. Glad we moved. That being said, the freezer was always full.

Natural selection will be the push to get Santa his reindeer.
Of course the chance of being yoked to a sleigh to drag fatboy around the world in a day will push reindeer to burrow underground to hide from him and the trains.
