Any franchise that has a dork looking whiny beta douche as the main villain (Kylo Ren) will never be a great movie.
The last movie just seemed to be recycling the plot of the 1st one, or the retitled episode 4.
Yup. Big shrug for me. Daisy Ridley is hot, though.
“Having taken her first steps into the Jedi world”
I despise Political Correctness in all it’s forms.
Luke Skywalker is the Last Jedi
The Two Major Protagonists of the Light and Dark Side
get together and mend the Force,
ending with a gigantic iChing
Have not cared for the post Lucas films but it’s gotta be better than The Star Wars Holiday Special.
Exactly. The last movie was a mess, but the buzz (at the time) was that it was a masterpiece.
I will probably see this on in the theaters out of habit, but my expectations are pretty low.
Have burned out on Star Wars, Star Trek and the comic book movies. However I have been binge watching “Agents of Shield”, and I do like that. Love Phil Coulson, great character.
Now I might go to Youtube and watch that Star Wars Holiday Special, gotta get Chewie home for XMAS. Hard to believe all those stars had to make that thing.
With Carrie Fisher not available, how big a part can Leia have?
Will this repetitive juvenile nonsense ever end?
Is it a spoiler to ask why anyone would want to support Hollywood by paying money to see this?
One thing I’ve learned: when a new Star Wars movie drops the mega-fans say it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever seen. They said that about the Phantom Menace too. Give it a month after release and see what people who aren’t getting an adrenaline rush from seeing it think.
Even if this installment were total garbage it would still make the better part of a billion dollars. And as long as the movies keep making money they'll keep cranking them out.
A lot of people said the force awakens would be a great movie. And I thought it sucked. It was just a copy of a new hope!
THAT is why I love Free Republic! 8~)
Long answer:
Domestic box office take of Star Wars films:
Star Wars: $445 million
Empire Strikes Back: $276 million
Return of the Jedi: $297 million
Phantom Menace: $431 million
Attack of the Clones; $302 million
Revenge of the Sith: $380 million
Force Awakens: $936 million
Rogue One: $532 million
Double the numbers to take into account worldwide box office. Triple them (at least) for merchandising.
Short answer:
No.
Three Down already, for Gosh Sakes
To be entertained for 2 1/2 hours.
Ewok Adventures proved to exceed that low hurdle.. For those who have blocked any memory, you can watch the Holiday Special here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJDAmBQ1u2g
I recommend liberal doses of libations if you go down that road.
