Those were used to hold the camera for interior shots.

BTW. I read there were 4 used for the movie. 2 were destroyed.

Err.. 4 mustangs and two chargers. The chargers were sold back to the dealer in san Bernardino. .

Yeah, those unibody vehicles with "short" suspension travel just don't survive long with repeated airborne travel landings.

There were apparently an unknown number of "Generals" sacrificed over the years.
