Not everyone knows a lot about sports, and thats OK! I, for instance, dont know very much (fine, anything) about being a cobbler, but no one gets upset with me for that.
But even when you come to terms with that, watching these three Jeopardy! contestants not even attempt to answer a single football question is so infuriating even Alex Trebek couldnt take it.
They waited till they had tried EVERY SINGLE OTHER CLUE to even attempt a football one:
The answer is "d-i-s-r-e-s-p-e-c-t-f-u-l k-n-e-e-l-e-r"
I couldn’t answer any of those NFL questions either. Frankly, I’m proud of it. Why, you may ask? Because I don’t follow football, don’t go to games, and I don’t own a TV...threw it out 25 years ago.
Good news. The NFL hates America. The less of it the better.
Landry is considered to be the guy that made it a “thing”, codifying its strengths and weaknesses and deciding when you would and wouldn’t want to do it. Along with the 4-3 defense. While much of the stuff he’s credited with probably existed before there was a different style of football and football coaching, Landry is in that generation of coaches that really started formalizing football strategy, codifying what formations were good for and why you would want to use them. A generation which of course include Lombardi whose 2 hour lecture on the ins and outs of the I formation Madden credits as completely changing how he thought football.
LOL good point!
Everybody looked at me, like, 'Huh??'
Watching this show yesterday, I couldn’t help but think that if Roger Goodell is watching this, he is going to have a coronary. This generation of players had no interest or knowledge of the NFL whatsoever. It does not bode well for the business.
I did too, couldnt believe none tried to answer a single one. Almost looked staged. If I could get them and havent paid attention to the game in years, its not logical that those 3 couldnt attempt a crack at one!
Only for the males who do fantasy league.
Otherwise, watching televised football is a way to relax, especially on a cold, rainy afternoon. And watching the local HS team play is a way to bring the community together.
But the NFL screwed the pooch.
LOL That was my first thought. This must be staged.
Could be worse. Wolf Blitzer could be playing.
“Weird none of the three even rang in.”
I saw that! That’s wild.
