A big cat poacher has been killed and eaten by the pride of lions he was hunting at a private game reserve in South Africa.
The hunter was heard screaming for help as he was attacked at the Ingwelala Private Nature Reserve in Hoedspruit outside Phalaborwa.
But the lions quickly killed their victim and devoured most of his body before being chased off, leaving his head untouched.

What DOES poached lion taste like? What does one use for poaching liquid? Red wine? Herbed milk to reduce the gaminess? Guinness and honey, perhaps?
Evidently the poacher failed to take your advice ... perhaps he was distracted by his own screaming ...

Foxnews says that he was mauled but not killed. Man, tough to get the real story these days.

a person who hunts or catches game or fish illegally.
I’ve had poached eggs but never poached lion. I think I’ll keep it that way... ;)
It wasn’t clear that he was poaching. The owner had no comment and the police didn’t know. Most people commenting just don’t like big game hunters.
I’m a firm believer and supporter of legal hunting whether for food or trophies.
ALL poachers should suffer the same fate as this guy.
The shame is, it sounds like two guys got away.
There is a difference between poaching and hunting.
Just as there is a difference between buying and stealing.

But if you miss the shot that only gives him the adrenaline rush to run faster.
Better to aim for center mass. His groaning and stumbling will draw the kitties while you run like the wind.

Poacher definition, a person who trespasses on private property, especially to catch fish or game illegally.
In my opinion, to kill a rare species for commercial gain is bad.
Actually it is pretty clear.
If he was an authorized hunter he would have been hunting in the day and he would have been identified.
Getting a lion permit is not like getting your deer tag.
You get a permit for a certain lion in a certain area.
Are they going to mount the head?
No, I am with you. I was just stating the obvious...of course they meant it to sound bad, because the guy, in addition to being a torso-less head, was bad.
Of course, nobody pays attention to the market in China for lion parts...but eventually they will have to begin raising them the same way tigers are now raised.
