NBC Olympics✔ @NBCOlympics You'd be shocked, too. 😱
Ester Ledecka, a world champion SNOWBOARDER, shocks the field to win a surprise-gold by 0.01 in alpine skiing women's super-G! #WinterOlympics http://bit.ly/2BL0w0l

As the old saying goes: Dont you dare cut away to the figure skating until all of the skiers have their time in the snow. NBC learned this the hard way during the networks Olympics coverage on Friday evening, when commentators Bode Miller and Dan Hicks decided to crown Anna Veith, one of the most dominant Super-G competitors in the world, the winner of the womens event despite a few more competitors still to come. (The exact words from Hicks: Four straight Olympic golds in the womens Super-G for the skiing powerhouse of Austria. I just about cant believe it!) The programming was then switched to the mens figure skating finals, although the network eventually switched back to the Super-G upon the news that, ahem, somebody else won instead: Ester Ledecka from the Czech Republic.
Well, these are the Olympics, and anything can happen, Hicks wisecracked about the turn of events. As a world champion in snowboarding, Ledecka was considered an underdog for the Super-G event, as she only began competitively racing in alpine skiing two years ago as a means of challenging herself. (Shell be competing next week in the parallel giant slalom.) However, she managed to beat Veith by one hundredth of a second in borrowed skies from gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin, no less and could hardly believe it.
Evan Doherty @YSportsEvan Ester Ledecka on why shes still wearing her goggles, hours after winning Super-G: I was not as prepared as the other girls. I dont have makeup on. #pyeongchang2018 #olympics 12:36 AM - Feb 17, 2018
How did that happen? she asked a group of cameramen when she completed her gold-medal run, adding later at a press conference: I really dont know what happened. You tell me
I was riding. I really dont know what happened. It was great. It was great, girl.
I was watching that and had NO idea there were more skiers to go.
The implication was that it was over. What fools.
LOL. Perfect. :D
NBC was in a big rush to get back to a certain gay figure skater
.... priorities, you know.
Isn’t NBC showing these hours after the event?
They said so many times that no one after the last skier they showed had a chance that I thought the rest of the field were from the paraolympics with blind and legless athletes were coming up. I guess it was blind, legless and Czechs.
More accustomed to reporting politics, they just make it up as they go. Unfortunately for them, sports has an objective outcome, unlike elections.
The skiing was broadcast live. They showed the winning skier on tape a few minutes after she had won.
“NBC had another “Heidi Game” moment, declaring Anna Veith the gold medalist before the race was over and cutting away. OOPS!”
To be fair, all of Big Media’s BEST “reporters” are working overtime to overthrow the President of the United States.
Kind of like how they all declared Hillary the winner before the election.
LOL!!! Exactly. Czechs on borrowed skis, what do they know?
Must be graduates from the Steve Harvey School of Broadcasting.
This has been the worst coverage of an Olympics I have ever seen.
Im glad that the winner didnt crash. I hate to see a Czech bounce.
They cacheted a Czech they couldn’t cover.
Agreed. The coverage stinks.
Not having to watch Bob Costas or Lester Holt or Matt Lauer is a big plus, thought.
