Hysterectomies are perfomed by male doctors. They learned how in medical school. Now it may be medically justified to remove a uterus but why do they remove ovaries at the same time? I watched a hysterectomy surgery once when I was a nursing student and I thought it was quite sad that the salpinges and ovaries were taken out along with the uterus almost as a unit. The reasoning is that they might as well take them too since they have access. Then women have to take hormone replacement therapy which is by no means perfect.

If she still has ovaries or froze eggs, she can buy sperm and rent a person to gestate her offspring.

My ex wife had a complete hysterectomy 6 months to the day after the birth of our 2nd child as a result of dealing w endometriosis for several years. Hormone replacement therapy never agreed with her system.. Too much .. Too little... @ 6 years ago she was diagnosed with Non Hodgins Lymphoma. I have wondered if the HRT had any cause in this unfortunate diagnosis?

My Hysterectomy was a huge relief, to say the least.

A couple of years prior to my hysterectomy, I underwent two surgeries to remove pre-cancerous tumors in my breast.

After my hysterectomy, my gynecologist refused to put me on HRT because of my history and my family history with cancer. Ever since my hysterectomy, my mammograms have been clear. I’m grateful to my doctor for his decision.

OTOH, my sister also told underwent a hysterectomy for severe endometriosis. She was put on HRT and, a few years later, developed Breast Cancer. Fortunately, it was caught in the early stages and she didn’t require chemo or radiation.

I wouldn’t be surprised if your ex’s Lymphoma was caused by the HRT.

I have a good friend who had a hysterectomy after years of suffering with endometriosis. She finally has relief and is enjoying life.
