The slip in NBC's ratings have caused tension at the network and even Lester Holt's position at NBC Nightly News is reportedly in jeopardy.
ABC's World News Tonight with David Muir passed Holt in overall audience during the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, causing some top NBC executives to sweat.
Sources told PageSix that if Holt's stats were ever to get the point that the network needed to make a change in the anchor's chair, NBC would be in a major bind.

The skating isn’t totally decadent, but they held it off until the end of the day and I got tired of waiting for it until after all the various events with skiers and boarders doing flips in the air.
Bad programming decision IMHO trying to hold the audience until midnight.
I see yet another company is learning that catering to the freaks doesn’t really work.
They can have guys kissing guys all they want — most of us won’t be watching.
Sort of like CNN not reporting states going to Trump until as late as possible?
Really miss the days of Peggy Fleming and Dick Button doing commentary for ABC.

Too much figure skating. Too much freestyle. Too much commentary. Too many commercials. All the hockey looks like it was relegated to NBCSN which I don’t get. That left some speed skating and a couple of snowboard and ski cross events which are always fun. My fast forward button got quite the workout this olympics.
You have games that USED to represent the American people, now you have participants who only represent liberals. Snotty kids who think their opinions matter. Why would we watch?
I won’t watch anything with him in it, either. They insist on rubbing homosexuals in our faces. They had him on the dog show on Thanksgivng. That used to be a program you could leave on around children. Now the Olymipics. NBC will trash anything.
I stopped watching and caring about the “Olympics” many moons ago. After reading about the DNC’s toadies in the “media” drooling all over the chubby little NORK dictator’s “gorgeous” sister and North Korea in general, I knew I had made the right decision.
Gen X is not the reason it’s the millennials. In AR my generation has finally turned AR red. Gen x has a libertarian bend to it, much to the chagrin of our counter culture wannabes of parents.
One more thing gen x me am turning 40 this year. I had no idea I would still be here 15 years after creating my screen name.
And they’re all so darned proud of their performances, no matter how sh!tty, they inform us that they’re “having a great time!” Really, you traveled there for a 2 week vacation and Tindr hookups?
I think Trump has empowered us all to say “eff off” when the media tries to ram an agenda down our throats. And I’m really really tired of the virtue signaling commercials.
I do watch the Olympics but only the Aerials, jumping, bobsled, luge. I record it all and skip the rest.
Let’s give credit where it’s due, the decline began back in the 70’s when they turned the music over to John Williams.
They wanted to hire the queer figure skater!!! Like that would fix everything.

Queer guys are never happy. They are disordered mentally which is why they act the way they do.
I’ve been sleeping so soundly these two weeks. It’s just plain boring to show winter sports. It’s been putting me into a sound sleep. Figure skating is the exception. I wish they’d show more of that. The female skaters last night exhibited the elegance and skill of those of years ago.
I admit, I watched some. Scott Hamilton and some women did some announcing and they were very good but they never put them on prime time.
