She was suspended for a year for using an anabolic steroid, 2012. I’m kinda surprised she was only popped for roids the one time.

More recently she tested positive in Dec 2016 for a banned diuretic, but in February 2017 she was given a retroactive therapeutic use exemption (her doctor gave her the drug to help her recover from a bad weight cut she claimed), lifting the provisional suspension.

I called the Edgar fight and wasn’t surprised that Ortega finished him. Again, as with the last few weeks, I thought the undercard were the most entertaining fights of the night. The most feel good “Cinderella story” fight of the year was that kid I never heard of coming in on a weeks notice against a ranked fighter and putting him down with a walk off KO les than a minute into the fight. The Cyborg fight was such a mismatch it was embarrassment to see it put out there as a “Main Event”. I would pay to have seen just about any other fight on the card before I’d pay to see that.

Aren’t they looking to put Nunes against Cyborg next? She’s the only realistic opponent out there cuz she’s a hitter so she would have a puncher’s chance. But, I have no desire to watch two juiced up manly looking “chicks” fight. Not as a main event and not even as the first fight of the night.

I’d enjoy the spectacle of two Brazilian roid-heads slugging it out, but the problem is that Cyborg is always much much larger than her opponents come fight night. She usually faces bantamweights who simply don’t need to cut weight to make the 145 limit, while Cyborg starts her camp in the 160s and has to seriously cut to hit 145 and rehydrates up to at least 155 (probably significantly more) by the time she steps into the octagon.

And that’s not even factoring in the permanent changes to her physique from the previous abuse of anabolics.

So Amanda Nunes does have a chance but she won’t be anywhere near fighting on a “level playing field”, if I may misuse that phrase. The biggest thing she has going for her is actual skill and experience, whereas most of Cyborg’s other recent opponents have been B-leaguers that get dragged into the UFC to be mauled and then forgotten about. Leslie Smith (a 135er with no wins over significant opponents in the last 5 years), Lina Lansberg (who??? - exactly), Tonya Evinger (135er with one UFC fight, her loss to Cyborg), Holly Holm (the one legit opponent), and Yana Kunistskaya (a 135er who lost to Evinger last year but was brought up from the B-leagues to be slaughtered).

Fight Pass only event in progress from London. I usually don’t bother with new threads for Fight Pass cards.

I’ll take Volkov and Blachowicz

Volkov looks pretty frightening. I think I’ll take him too.

Outside of Werdum, I have no idea who any of these people are :O

Amazon is interested in buying Fight Pass. I’m crossing my fingers it ends up free with Amazon Prime.

Until then, pirate sites or find video later.

great fight so far! I was shocked to see the triangle choke from Paul after getting wrestlefrucked by a Russian for 3 straight rounds. Got a triangle choke at 4:59 of rd 3! I have seen worse PPV fights

This has been way better than a few PPVs. Great card!

The bloodyelbow.com editors previewed the fight. Everyone chose Duquesnoy, Manuwa and Werdum. They may as well be “Democrat economists” as well as they predict.

Age was a big factor in my pick of Volkov, and it indeed I was right, it’s lights out for Werdum! I’m sure he can still beat some tough fighters but Volkov is too good.

You called that one Impy. Blachowitz was a beast - where did that level of stand up come from? Can’t wait to see him again.
