The Florida school cop branded a coward for failing to tackle mass shooter Nikolas Cruz is seen for the first time - enjoying his taxpayer-funded retirement.
Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, 54, chose to resign and retire rather than face an internal affairs investigation for 'seeking cover' while AR-15 wielding Cruz slaughtered kids inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
That means the 33-year law enforcement veteran will keep his $60,000 pension unless he's hit with a federal charge of failing to act, which legal experts say will be hard to prove.
Peterson appeared happy and relaxed Saturday as he headed to a strip mall, wearing a baseball cap, pink t-shirt, shorts and a fanny pack, to take a female companion to lunch.

Retirement? This clown is an example of why LEO’s need prior military combat experience, and; if not, they should all be reserve-NOT NG. Our nation’s treasure is our kids before they become adults. We allowed the teacher’s unions under Obama to push “common core”, gay and lesbian BS on these kids. SAD.
Teaching little boys to be quote “gay” is what we can expect from gay LEO types. Do they even have an annual PT test with qualification scores per event? What good is any cop who cannot even run a mile in under 8 minutes? Add 50 push ups, sits ups, 10 chin ups, yearly marksmanship qualification, yearly physical exams, plus continued education in the criminal justice field. I think we must demand more from all PLUS our COPS to MAGA. No excuses.
The murdered children were under the custody and care of the school in general and specifically, their teachers. It was their legal responsibility to protect and defend those children. That responsibility is termed "in loco parentis". It cannot be shifted.
The school and teachers chose to not be able to protect and defend the children in their care by disarming themselves. And they attempted to shift responsibility to a law enforcement officer who was not in loco parentis to those children.
Again, that responsibility cannot be shifted from those in loco parentis (school & teachers), to law enforcement. Police forces have no legal responsibility to protect. In schools as well as out, their responsibility is to enforce the law.
The failure to protect and defend those children resided with the school and teachers involved. Tragically, the Deputy's failure was not protection, but procedure.
That's the difference in responsibility. And it's one our public schools, which are government entities, are doing a good job of denying.

We’ve all known since Columbine what cops do when a shooter pops up in a school. He was doing what he was “trained” to do. They’ll try to avoid having this fact come out in a court room.

Govt, where you can never be incompetent, never lose your pension. And they wonder why we hate them. i’m 60 years old, been working commission bases sales management for years, made good money, but have no retirement, no insurance, no nothing. Meanwhile, incompetent dead weight in government who have been paid by my paychecks are doing well! I really wish they’d eliminate about half of them, no severance, no retirement, just turn their worthless butts loose.
