"They stopped making good music after 1979."

Hardly. There is much great music in the 80s and the 90s were a brilliant era, comparable to the 60s.

Anyone that says good music stopped before the 80s or 90s is just a fuddy duddy.

Oh now, be nice. Septuagenarians rolling in their Trans Ams with the t-tops out playing "Foreigner" at high volume on the 8-track are the very epitome of cool and always will be.

Music (as in pop/mainstream/radio music) seemed to completely fall off the radar to me right around 2000. I’ve heard some good songs since then, but it seems like a bulk of the Top 100 (or whatever it is these days) sounds like the same recycled crap of the past 15 years. There are certainly exceptions, but they seem to be fewer and further in between.

Maybe I’m just getting older :-).

Piss off all you disco haters. This curmudgeon doesn’t know or give a rip about decades. It’s all a blur at this stage of the game anyhow. Bee Gees were/are terrific. Van McCoy and “Do the Hustle”, KC and the Sunshine band and “Give it up”, Maxine Nightengale “Right Back Where We Started From” still rule.

Then I must be a fuddy duddy. I only like a handful of 80s songs and even fewer 90s songs. As for the 21st century, I doubt if I can even name five songs. In my opinion, the only decent music of past several decades is movie music.

My favorite decade for popular songs is the 20s, followed by the 30s.
