The video is over 20 years old but yes, it’s the best I’ve ever seen, too.

I’ve seen your posts and have no doubt you were close to it all.

We lived in the area at the time, and my mother would let me stay home sometimes for launches. That day was one of them. She was a die-hard space cadet from the Mercury days. The 8x10 autographed photos from Merc & Apollo are still some of her prized posessions.

I watched the liftoff on the living room TV while she was in the backyard. Once it cleared the pad i went outside with her. We watched it happen; and i watched it devastate us both. I’ll never forget that.

I think i know what you mean in your post. It’s like if you witnessed 9/11 unsanitized and live. You don’t need to see it again...you just close your eyes and there it is.

I was employed in Saudi Arabia on that day and still recall how Saudi Engineers (graduates of US colleges) High-fived each other with glee.

IIRC a FReeper reported on going to an arab run store on 9/11 in NYC and the staff and ME customers were watching reruns of the planes crashing and the towers falling.

They all cheered every time.

Why do we give these countries aid and let them come here?

PC maybe?

Referring to what happened as an accident? Hmm.

We don’t give them much aid, if any, and $$$$ is the answer to your 2nd question.

Even though the presentation is low key the violence of the event is still hard to handle.

What a horrible day. I was driving on I-4 just north of Orlando and had pulled over to watch it launch and saw the explosion as it happened while listening to it on the radio. The announcer was in disbelief. All around people pulled off I-4 and got out of their cars and just looked up. There was no traffic for a few minutes...we stood in the cold watching in shock

We drove to the Cape a few times to see the launch close...what a marvel. I miss it- not the same here in Central Florida.

There was a good documentary on the History Channel about the explosion and the Rogers Commission investigation. Reagan had appointed an outside physicist and expert, Richard Feynman, who really got the ball rolling on the seal and weather problem when some at NASA were determined to sweep it under the rug. I remember being in a meeting in Chicago and the server burst in to tell us about the explosion; sounded unbelievable at the time.

Why should I relive yesteryear and the pain we all felt for those who really lived it. It was a moment in time, unfortunately caused by some willing to put others at risk to preserve a schedule that in reality wasn’t really important, except for bringing to light those in the program that didn’t respect the lives of the shuttle crew or the safety of the program. I choose no.

The words “go for throttle up” will forever be an unpleasant reminder.

The entire crew were recovered. Autopsy reports were never released. Speculation is that they survived the explosion, descent and impact only to drown.

Why do they still have all their natural teeth?

If I’m not mistaken I think they found some of the astronauts still strapped in their seats.

Do you really expect our liberal MSM to mention the anti-American sentiment prevailing in Saudi? Neither did they report the many parties held by muslim students on American campusses the night of 9/11/2001. The American public is being misinformed and/or under-informed.

The muslim enemy is NOT outside our gates — they are happily encamped within our walls and thriving. It is all our own fault that this is happening — we wine and dine these thugs especially in our universities because they pay full tuition.

I consider myself well-informed politically but I did not know about any of that. Those buzzards. “Religion of peace” my behind.

It’s a good thing I wasn’t there, I’d be in prison after doing what I could to take them out.
