Weather has been a factor. However baseball could make itself more relevant with two simple fixes:

1. Call balls and strikes electronically. The technology exists, use it.

2. End the abomination known as inter-league play.

I’d be worried too if I were an owner on the hook for contracts like these....

Absolutely correct. It was so much better when the NL played the AL for the first time in the World Series.

But then again, I would also get rid of the DH. That's why I rarely watch AL games.

This one is huge for me. The reason I don’t like basketball is that the refereeing is so terrible and, frankly, difficult.

Sacrilege! Umpires are what makes baseball the most "human" of all the sports.

I'm curious why you feel so strongly about inter-league play. Could you explain?

I'm a very casual viewer of baseball and somewhat ignorant of how the league works, so I'm just asking out of curiosity. (I'm not challenging your opinion or trying to rile anyone up, just curious why you dislike it).

Umpires are part of Baseballs' story-line and tradition. Bitchin' about a bad call is part of the experience. Want electronics? Stay home and play video games.

2. End the abomination known as inter-league play.

Agree, but not a big deal IMHO.

The game needs to be shortened, and played during hours that young people can watch. No commercial breaks outside normal game stoppages.

Ticket prices for all but the best seats and boxes need to be reasonable as should the concessions.

I used to get Yankee tickets behind home plate for free. After parking and food for a family of 4, I was out over $200.00. Face value of the tickets was something like $300. per.

I agree with both. Yesterday, Felix Hernandez was called for a balk. A runner came home who should have been out. The difference in the game? A one-run win for Oakland. As my husband said, "I hate it when a game is decided by the officials". I agree with electronic balls and strikes as well. The worse I ever saw was when an ump called a ball, and a strike, and the meter showed that the two pitches were in the exact same spot.

I, too, despise "inter-league play". Fie, away with you!

There are 162 games, and you want them to cut the number of opponents DOWN? You need 25 games against each division team instead of 15? You need to make sure that the entire nation never gets to see half of the teams and half of the stars? You think THAT improves the sport and its popularity? SMH
