OTOH, to cut them a little slack, the stuff that is going on that we know about is so preposterous that in order to believe it is true, you have to spend a LOT of time looking into it. For most people, it’s like a headline that says “I’m having Elvis’ baby” or “Bigfoot ate my dog” or something. They look at it, laugh, and move on. Who stops to read that stuff?
