I love those Flickers! We don’t have them in SW ‘Sconny, but I’ve seen plenty of them in, ‘Da Nort Woods’ of Wisconsin.
They’re huge! As big as a chicken! (Well, maybe not quite, LOL!)
I have the Red Bellied Woodpeckers and they are noisy as heck and will eat ALL of your suet in one day. ;)
You probably have the Yellow Shafted Flicker up yonder?
Nice picture. Thanks for sharing. Hope all goes well for her.
We had Pileateds on our property in Oregon. Very startling when one barrels past, among the trees.
Here, we only have Downy & Hairy Woodpeckers, plus Flickers...both reds, yellows, and a hybrid, but mainly red
We also have the Downys & Hairys here...
Nice; I’d also call Hairy on it. When we get one of each at the feeder, there’s no doubt.
Several years ago, I got a shot of a Bluejay and a Hairy about 6” from each other, each looking at the other’s beak, before deciding to share the suet from opposite sides.
Thanks for the ping.
I have been working on installed the underground watering lines to the raised beds in Barbs garden. I have three of the four zones plumbed and pressure tested. Still need to finish hooking up the three GFCI outlets as well as completing the manifold.
I planted two pear trees in the garden area in two raised bed frames that I had salvaged from our RV site. Still want to add a couple more fruit trees...Barbs choice.
Up at the RV for three days of rest, then, back at it. Barb is home planting her spectacular seedlings! Had an accident with her flat of peppers...they jumped off the island. Bummer.
Thanks for the beneficial bugs list and pic! I had lost the notes I took from several years ago that you had advised to plant. So I have put it into a Garden notes book I started and maybe I won’t loose it as easily.
We want to add some more fruit trees too - running out of room. Two of the honey dew trees died last winter. Hubby thinks they may have been too close to the Butternut tree (walnut family).
You are welcome.
It really brings in the Green Lacewings and the REAL Lady Bugs - not those invasive imposters! ;)
When I had laying hens, I always kept a ‘Rush Radio’ in the coop, too. If raccoon or wild mink heard human voices, they tended to leave my hens alone. ;)
I know a Rush Radio keeps my liberal friends away...
