Obese workers should be allowed to turn up later to work, a government adviser has said

Overweight office workers could be allowed to miss the rush hour commute, ask for a larger chair or work from home.

Workers who are overweight should be allowed to turn up later to work, according to a government adviser.

Leading employment specialist Stephen Bevan is to pitch a new plan to protect obese people under discrimination law, reports the Mirror.

This could allow overweight office workers to miss the rush hour commute, ask for a larger chair or work from home.

Professor Bevan, who is a member of Public Health England's advisory board and has advised the Department of Work and Pensions, will suggest the changes at the European Congress on Obesity in Vienna.

Research has recently revealed people from Britain are the most prejudiced towards overweight people in Europe.

And now Professor Bevan will advise 2,000 medics that obesity should be classed as a "protected characteristic" - allowing workers to sue bosses who fat shame them.

“We need to coordinate our efforts so that people who want to work can do so," he said.

“It can be working time, it can be having a bit of understanding that someone might need to turn up at 10am because they have trouble with transport or anxiety about transport.

“Some people say that obesity is the last characteristic that its still socially acceptable to make fun of.

“We have a scheme in the UK called Access to Work which not many employers know about.

“If you are an individual living with a health condition or an impairment you can get support, paid for by the Government to make accommodations.

“It could be transport or it could be working from home.”

Didn’t Homer Simpson do this? He put on some extra weight and then got to work from home.

Pareto's principle is a simple reality!

A few decades ago in sales, engineering and other disciplines, companies and institutions recognized that 20% of their employees contributed 80 % of the positive results.

On the negative side, 20% of the employees caused 80%+ of the problems.

The smart companies/institutions rewarded the positive 20% and minimized or got rid of the bad 20%.

Then, a few decades ago, the deadly PCism of Affirmative Action took over.

First you could not identify the positive 20% and before you hired them and then reward the top 20% as employees.

Then/now you could not get rid of the 20 % that caused 80%+ of the problems.

Jobs have now become a right! Every employee gets a participation award regardless of lack of any positive contributions.

What is never discussed! Is what is being done to the top 20% of the producers to force them to bring in results to pay for the non producers.

Nowadays, it’s possible to be in both categories (highly productive and yet a troublemaker).

Your statement above was often an addition to my performance reviews.

Think of the favor it does for all the normal sized people on the rush hour commute. As long as it is a suggestion or incentive and not a requirement, we need to look at the big picture.

He just said the obese can’t handle the same work load as everyone else and require special accommodations.
Start seeing massive campaigns never to hire the obese without being accused of discrimination.

What about that sour, yeasty body odor off of the chubbies? That is a bio hazard for the rest of us.

Why is there obesity in the world?

I call myself a drunk who is currently sober.

When I began this journey of getting away from my intoxication ten years ago I had 30 more pounds on me than I have now.

My experience is walking away from my selfish intoxicating ways also reduced my binge eating and increased my productivity at work resulting in weight loss.

That’s my perspective.
