baking SODA is inherently aluminum-free since baking SODA contains nothing but SODIUM bicarbonate .... you’re thinking of double-acting backing POWDER, most of which DO contain an aluminum salt, though the more knowledgeable of us use double-acting baking POWDER that contains phosphate agents rather than aluminum ones ...

I think you are confusing baking soda [comes in a box and doesn’t have aluminum] with baking powder [comes in a small can and some brands though not all may have aluminum]… they are two different things. Some recipes call for both.
