It's the right thing to do
My life | Today | KittenClaws

Posted on 06/30/2018 4:41:04 PM PDT by KittenClaws

Today my husband and I did the right thing. We put our beloved pet down, we decided her life had no joy, no moment free from pain.

Our little "Trouble", had tumors on her chest, she would whimper if touched , My darling Trouble would just stand sometimes in one place, rickety legs, wobbling body. She would be outside, ears perked, listening to days gone by.

You did do the right thing...and one of the most difficult “right things” that must be done.

We’ve been there several times.

We are so sorry for your loss...make sure that you grieve.

Blessings.

Hugs to you and Troubles.

Our old dog is getting close. Wobbly legs, falling over, peeing in the carpet, deaf and almost blind. The kitties love all over her so as long as she doesn’t appear in pain, she’ll be with us.

I can see how the deafness a and blindness made them fear.. They are just poor little animals after all.

My heart is breaking,

I grieve with you, my FRiend. We have a dearly beloved 15 year old kitty (Stella) who has blessed our lives from the moment she entered at five months old. She isn't in any pain at this time but we notice small things - her loss of smell and taste - we have to show her her food and treats. She sometimes walks in circles and isn't interested in play anymore with her younger "brother". She would rather nap on her "reserved" heated kitty pad. I know it's only a matter of time and I make it a point to cuddle her more, kiss on her more, feed her small meals even if it means six times a day, brush her, forgive her very rare litter box mistakes and steel my heart for what I know is inevitable. It is a contract of sorts that we accept when we choose to brings these precious creatures into our homes. The joy and love they give us makes it all worth it. She helped heal our hearts when we lost Emily.

And when we do have to say goodbye, we know that they have taught us about life and love and prepare us to open our hearts once more. I hope you find comfort in this.

That describes our 16 year old Yorkie, whom we had to put down two weeks ago. No matter how many times we've been through it, it's still a difficult and heart-breaking thing to do.

Many ((hugs)) to you! Your heart is broken and I’m so sorry. Just know that I can understand having been through it 7 times before. Words are meaningless. Tears help.

So sorry, Yorkies are such a joy. Just had my 10yr old Golden go 2 weeks ago. Cancer finally got to him where he couldn't get up on his feet. Last night had to take my wife's 15yr old yorkie in, she's on IV till Monday to see if her kidney function returns. She had some fluid build and the vet put her on Lasix and after 12 days of Lasix the kidneys weren't clearing toxins well. Crossing fingers her kidney numbers improve by Mondays blood test, otherwise a terminal diagnosis would have to let her go. Should be a law that pets have to live as long as their humans. I really miss my 120lb Golden, he'd been my best bud for just over 10 years. He blessed me with one last Golden Boy pose for a picture an hour before his last trip to the vet.

Prayers for comfort and healing for you. It’s always hard to say goodbye to a pet who’s a beloved member of the family. God bless you.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I have prayed for you.

My belief is that all loved pets are not far away after they pass and that such love goes on forever in the universe.

I had a dog while I was in college and several odd circumstances made me happen to be there at home as he sat beside me on the couch and died suddenly of a heart attack. It shook me up but then I realized he didn’t die alone because of those odd happenings that afternoon. Uncanny.

A very compassionate Vet, who’s now deceased, once told me, “When you best friend no longer has an easy life, it’s time to bid them farewell.”

KittenClaws, I’m sorry for your loss. Putting down a beloved pet is very hard. I pray the Lord will fill the hole in your heart with many kind and warm memories of ‘Trouble.’

You deserve praise for having the moral gumption to do what was needed.

Not all do.

Eventually it comes to that. I've had to put down several dogs, and am not looking forward to the inevitable day when I'll have to have my cats put down. But when their life becomes an agony, mercy demands that they be freed from their ailments.

So sorry dear FRiend. I have been through it many times.

Proverbs 12:10 New International Version (NIV)

10
The righteous care for the needs of their animals,
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

God approves of your kindness.

So sad. Our own girl is 15 and wobbly in her own right, but pain free. Incontinence is our frustration, but we know the time is coming (she fell down as I was writing this).

Sincerest condolences.

About 10 years ago, our little cocker spaniel disappeared into the woods for about 36 hours. The next evening when she limped home, her skin was ripped off and she was impaled in her right side. The wound looked like she was gored by something. She was looking at me crying while I was looking her over. Blood everywhere and her skin was hanging off with meat exposed. Her right front leg seemed to be paralyzed. Putting her down was the only thing to do. I’ll never forget the way her eyes looked in all that agony.
