(snip) Police say the fatal shooting happened in the 7700 block of South Shore on August 3 around 8:45 p.m. The victim was struck in the left arm and chest and pronounced dead on the scene.
It is the sad reality of how quick people are to pull a gun.
CBS 2s Charlie De Mar reports neighbors are finding it hard to wrap their heads around, as their neighbor, Earl Young, was fatally shot over the weekend. Young was about to marry his fiancé and things were looking bright when a petty argument, allegedly over his dogs, ended his life.
Darnell Payne is not only the Dean of Sullivan House alternative school and a pastor, hes also a mentor to many men.
Hes opened up his home to many of them.
We get the ones CPS no longer wants, Payne said. They are just little boys. Hurt people hurt people.
30-year-old Earl Young was one of those boys with a troubled past who Payne took in and turned around for the better. Young was a great basketball player, father, and soon-to-be husband.
Puppies. I have to smile because Im so close to crying, Payne said.
Young was murdered Friday. He was one of 12 killed over the violent weekend in Chicago.
Payne says it all stemmed from Youngs two puppies on the porch of his Southshore home.
The puppies were peeing on the porch. The pee ran down the porch to the neighbors, he explained.
Police say Young and the neighbor exchanged words before the neighbor shot and killed him.
How are we so petty now that we live in a world that you could lose your life over puppy pee? questioned Payne.

Trying very hard to blame the gun but I’d bet the farm that there’s much more to this story.
The problem isn’t guns or race. it’s culture.
Can you imagine this court episode? The shooter gets sent off to prison, for killing a guy over dog-pee?
The shooter wasn't a legal gun owner?
Oops, never mind.
Police say Young and the neighbor exchanged words before the neighbor shot and killed him.
How are we so petty now that we live in a world that you could lose your life over puppy pee? questioned Payne.

So it was NOT the puppy pee - it was the verbal argument that led to the shooting.
Like most murders in Chi Town.
bingo
In my neighborhood when I was young, everyones dog was allowed to roam free. The lady two houses over would call complaining that our dog was peeing on her petunias. She also had a streetlight installed in her back yard, that glared into my second-floor bedroom window.
In todays world, I suppose either or both of these issues might be cause for gunplay.

Alright folks
According to most male posters on this forum
Its perfectly ok to shoot and kill a man who pushes you down or hits you
I dont agree but Im from the last century
And have a lot experience with violence
Shooting a man simply over non life threatening physical violence is the work of a coward
In my opinion
Mine too
Dogs would fight
I cant lie
We found it fascinating but if it got gruesome wed try to break em up
This is pre snowflake nation
No Im not endorsing pit fighting
Some dogs make and female just fight quick and its not breed limited
SPOT ON!!!
It is not race, but culture. Plenty of ethnic minorities that have embraced traditional Judeo-Christian mores that are doing just fine and lots of whites that have embraced modernity that devastates the family...
The puppies were peeing on the porch. The pee ran down the porch to the neighbors,
Sorry, if your puppies pee is dripping in me as I sit on my porch something is going to happen.
I’m guessing Young did not handle the confrontation well.
“It is the sad reality of how quick people are to pull a gun.”
Wrong.
It is the sad reality of how quick some people of a certain culture are to pull a gun.
Fixed.
My guess is that when confronted by the person getting dripped on, the decedent, instead of apologizing and rectifying the situation like a normal person, chose to assert his right to have his puppy’s pee drip on this man, probably with force.
It’s Chicago. Shootouts are the normal.
Move along. Nothing to see here.
His two "puppies" are pit bulls of course, pissing on the balcony of his apartment and dripping on his neighbor below.
The majority of homes in rural America where I grew up and spent most of my adult life had a hunter and gun owner residing in it. But there was hardly ever any gun violence directed at the citizens of the community, unlike the shooting gallery of Chicago. Gun ownership in rural America made for polite neighbors, not these weekly body counts.
It's the majority of children growing up in single parent households, it's the Godless culture of drugs and violence, it's the DemonRat local governments which get their constituents addicted to regular financial dependency over the course of decades, it's the politically operated schools who fail their young charges generation after generation that make up this dis-functional excuse for a city.
And all the local CBS media can do is wring their hands and talk about "gun violence", like those pieces of steel pulled their own trigger.
Chicago culture.
