Agree with you there. Resource heavy, didn’t need all the fancy smancy graphics and gimmicks, or try to sell me valve stem caps for the car. Just give me lean, clean, works, and doesn’t take over my machine.
However, it does in the sense that WHENEVER you or anything tries to install anything--VIPRE asks your permission before it allows the process to proceed.
I occasionally get a note that it is not running and then I have to manually restart it but that only happens maybe once in two months or so.
