I told you I’d be posting the annual Halloween retelling of my short story “The Landlady’s Tale. . . and since I’m taking off for a week’s cruise in the morning, I have just done it a bit early, 10 days prior to Halloween, in case the ship sinks. I hope you all enjoy it.

Had an exgirlfriend come to me in a dream and tell me everything was going to be ok and she was ok. I found out five days later that she had passed that same night as the dream.

Great story. Thanks for the early Halloween gift.
“By the fourth night, Mr. Smith refused to get up a search.” I guess people who are not familiar with history and theology will brush off signs of trouble.
Problem. Haunted houses scare the ignorant who run away with fright.
Solution. Haunted houses have the souls of deceased people in the house because they have to pay a debt in order to depart from the house. And it takes a patient person to listen, to help pay the debt and to change the house into a non-haunted house.
Sad that parents and kids and owners of the house never listened and payed the debt. In this case, the ghost was the killer who needed help burying the dead stuck in the wall. “To bury the dead” is one of seven works of mercy, according the a 2000 year old tradition called Catholicism. Wow. Ignorance of history and theology causes so much unnecessary suffering.
